Recap:
Every word of Virat's is piercing Maanvi. She is jealous. And it is final. She wants Virat to herself. She has never seen him so involved in another girl before. Another girl apart from her. Without further ado Maanhim'she tells herself that there is no need to be so frightened of losing Virat. She trusts her partner enough.
Part 14
It was only a matter of days before Seema arrived on a bright sunny morning at the Vadhera house with 5 enormous bags full of luggage. Maanvi did not know what she was feeling. She did not want to feel jealous but she had to admit she kind of did. For what reason'she did not exactly know!
As soon as Seema entered Virat and her shared a hug. This did it for Maanvi. She just plain and simple could NOT tolerate it! Her feet were trying to drag her back to her room but instead of going back she told herself. No quitting, no running away. I am going to stand through this.
Everyone greeted Seema with great happiness. EVERYONE. Even Jeevika seemed to like Seema. There was not a single person against her. There had been quite a few against Maya but everybody in the family seemed to like this girl. It gave Maanvi a bucket full of pain seeing Virat's attention towards this girl. Ever since she was arriving Virat had spent nearly all his time trying to get her room etc. prepared. Maanvi felt guilty thinking that she did not exactly want Seema to be welcomed this much. It was so mean of her and she realized it. However, only one questions was echoing itself in her mind, how close were Virat and Seema? Close enough to tear her boyfriend and her apart. Yes, you heard right, Maanvi's boyfriend Virat! Maanvi ne thaanliya thaa! Virat was hers! She promised herself she would not let her possessiveness turn her into a bad person, all she knew that Virat belonged with her, and that was the way she was going to make it stay.
Days passed and Virat's attention was always caught up with Seema. Sometimes Virat forget to say goodnight or good morning to Maanvi. It was affecting Maanvi a lot. She felt terrible, she felt forgotten, isolated and scared of losing the one she loved. One day, Virat came up to Maanvi to ask her something.
Virat: Maanvi?
Maanvi's heart was thudding, it had been days since Virat had come into her room to talk to her.
Maanvi: Kya hai?
Virat: Vo Maanvi'jaysey ki tumhey patha hai mein chaatha hoon ki tumhaari treatment best doctor sey ho. Aur Seema doctor hai issiliye-
Maanvi: Issiliye kya Virat?
Virat: Issiliye mein agar ussey tumhaarey cancer key barrey mein bathaa doon tho vo tumhaari bohoth achhaa treatment karsakthi hai.
Maanvi: Virat? Tum paagel hogay ho? Kya Seema, Seema, Seema laga rakha hai tumney? Ha? Virat meinney aapni khud ki Di ko nahi bathaya aur tumhey aapni uss dosth ko bathaaney chaathey ho?
Virat: Maanvi, listen you're getting me wrong. Mein ussey dosthi ke naathey nahi bathaa raha hoon-
Maanvi: Tho kaun rishtey key naathey batha rahey ho Virat? Itney doctors hai, aaj taq tho tumney umsab mein kissi ko nahi bathaaya tho achanaak Seema ko kyu bathaaney chaathey ho?
Virat: Dekho Maanvi, I trust Seema, chintha karni ki koy baath nahi. I know she can keep a secret. Merrey bachpan ki dosth hai vo-
Maanvi: Thank you Mr Virat Vadhera'thank you mujhey bathaaney kilye ki vo tumhaari bachpan ki so called DOST hai! Yeh baath bohoth baar sunliya meinney. Roz din dus pandraa baar tho doraathey hogey tum. Hai na?
Virat: Tho tumhey kya problem hai Maanvi? Vo meri dosth hai tho dosth hai?
Maanvi: What did you say Virat? Problem! Mujhey kya problem hoggi? Koy problem nahi hai mujhey. But Virat I'm warning you. Seema ko kuch patha nahi chalney chah yeh! Samjhey tum? Kuch bhi nahi! Arrey meinney Jeevika di ko nahi bathaa ya hai tho mein-
Jeevika: Mujhey kya nahi bathaaya Mannu?
Maanvi and Virat had gotten so carried away with their argument that they had not even noticed that someone had been standing by the door. Jeevika came inside the room.
Jeevika: Maanvi mein tujhsey kuch puch rahi hoon. Kya nahi bathaayah hai tumney mujhey. Tum dono lar kyu rahey ho? Aur Virat'Maanvi ko doctor, treatment'yeh ab ki kya zaroorath hai?
Oh. My God.
Jeevika had heard every single part of their conversation, or should I say argument? What excuse could Maanvi give now? She did not know what to say. All Maanvi knew was that she was stuck. Stuck in the midst of cancer and her love for her di.
Jeevika: Maanvi, mein tujhsey kuch puchrahi hoon mujhey javaab dey!
Viren entered the room.
Viren: Kya hua Jeevika?
Jeevika: Viren ji, dekhyeh na. Virat aur Maanvi mujhsey kuch chupaarey hai. Virat kehera thaa ki Maanvi ko koy doctor ki treatment zaroori hai. Mannu mujhey kuch bathaa nahi rahi hai. Kyu hora hai aysey?
Tears started to stream down Jeevika's face. Viren comforted his wife.
Viren: Maanvi kya hua hai?
Maanvi was lost for words. The truth was for the first time in her life she had no response to her Di's questions. NONE AT ALL. Maanvi simply ran out of her room. She did not know where to go. Jeevika chased her calling her name down the stairs. Virat and Viren followed. Maanvi eventually ran back up the stairs, re-entered her room and locked herself up in it. Jeevika was not losing determination or motivation. She ran right up to Maanvi's room and was surprised to see that for the first time in her life, her sister had closer the door. This door had become a wall through them. For the first time EVER, Maanvi's doors were closed for Jeevika.
Jeevika: Theek hai Mannu. Math bathaa tumujhey. Likin mein bhi kehedethi hoon. Jabtaq tu mujhey such nahi bathaygi na main tujhsey baath nahi karney vaali! Chahey kuch bhi hojaye.
On this note, without even looking at Virat Jeevika turned around and ran into her room. Maanvi's eyes were filled with tears. Great! The list had gone bigger. The people who weren't talking to her had increased:
1. Swamini Bua
2. Virat
3. And now Jeevika!
What was she going to do? How was she going to survive.
A few hours later someone knocked on Maanvi's door. She asked who it was and a few seconds later heard Viren's voice. She had no one by her side right now. May be talking to her Giju would make her feel better. May be she had to tell someone how she felt. Maanvi let him in. They both settled down on the bed. There was silence and then Viren asked her what she was dreading the most, but he did so in a rather calm manner.
Viren: Maanvi'tum aur Virat kya chapaarey ho?
Again, there was a killing pause. Every single second took an hour to pass by however Maanvi remained silence.
Viren: Maanvi, dekho mein tumhey force nahi karoonga mujhey bathaaney kilye par please'Jeevika ney thaanliya hai. Vo tumsey tabtak baath nahi karey gi gabtak tum ussey bathaa nahi dethi ki such kya hai.
This was the moment. She had no one else to tell. She had to tell her Giju. She knew that Viren could not lie and soon after the truth of her cancer would be revealed to Jeevika however, may be this was a message sent by God. May be this was God's will. She looked at the photo of Sri Krishna on her bedside table. Then she looked at the photo of Jeevika di standing next to it. Tears streamed down her face as she opened her mouth to tell Viren the truth.
Maanvi: Giju'.Gi-Gi-Giju'vo (Maanvi's tears would not stop)'.
Viren: Maanvi, daro math'bathao mujhey.
Maanvi: Giju'vo mujhey'Giju mujhey'.mein'muj-muj-mujhey'.
Maanvi took a big breath telling herself that this was not the time to be afraid. She had to tell him the truth. Maanvi wiped away her tears and told herself to be strong. The quicker she said it, the quicker it would be over.
Maanvi: Giju'mujhey, mujhey'.mujhey cancer hai.
Virat was in his room thinking why Jeevika had not come into his room asking about the truth of what Maanvi was hiding from him. Then he realised that she obviously did not want to bare the pain of her finding out what he sister was hiding from her through someone else. Jeevika was giving Maanvi the chance to tell her, tell her the truth HERSELF. Seema walked into the room a few minutes later. As soon as he saw her Virat remembered what Maanvi had said to him about not telling Seema the truth of her cancer.
Seema: hey virat'
Virat: Seema I'm so glad you're here'such mein.
Seema: Aakhir hoon tho mein tumhaari best friend!
Virat and Seema got engaged in another one of their usual conversations which seemed to lighten up Virat's heavy mood. But inside, deep down inside somewhere, which Virat had notrealised'he was extremely concerned about Maanvi.
Viren was left speechless. Never had he imagined it could be something this serious. Never had he thought that the girl who had always supported the Vadhera and Chaudary family would suffer from such a deadly disease. She did not deserve this? Why such a punishment to such an innocent girl? Countless minutes of silence passed. Maanvi was no longer crying. She just continued to stare at a photo of Jeevika on her dressing table behind Viren. She could not take her eyes off her di. COULD NOT. No matter how hard she tried, even with Jeevika's absence, it seemed to her as if her sister was in the room trying to reassure her that everything would be alright. Viren finally said something. Seeing Maanvi so silent made him say something.
Viren: Maanvi? Kyu nahi bathaaya mujhey? Choti ho key aapney aap ko mujhsey barri samajhney laggi tum? Ha?vi leaves Virat and Jeevika standing where they are and returns to her room. Tears have swelled up in her eyes. Then she asks herself why she is crying. Virat loves her. She can trust
Maanvi: Nahi Giju'
Viren: Bohoth dekhliya mainney. Tumhey mujh par bhorosaa nahi hai na.
Maanvi: Nahi Giju'
Viren: Kyu nahi bathaaya Maanvi? Kya mein tumharra aapna nahi hoon?
Maanvi: Nahi Giju'
Viren : Maanvi, abhi issi vaqt, vada karo, vada karo mujhsey ki aagey seyy tum aapney Giju sey kuch nahi chupaogi'
Maanvi : Giju'I'm sorry'.mein vada karthi hoon.
Tears escaped Maanvi's eyes onced again. Maanvi and Viren hugged. Viren was like a brother to Maanvi. He understood so much. He was so caring.
Batha do Maanvi'ab aur der math karo, bathaa do aapni di ko. Aapni Giju ki yeh khwaaish puri kar do. Please Maanvi.
Maanvi was silent for a minute and then she said something.
Maanvi: Giju'shayad aap theek keherey hai. Shayad mujhey di ko batha denna chah yeh. Mein aapsey promise karthi hoon Giju'kal subhaa ki peheli kiren jaysey hi ayegi mein di ko batha doongi.
Viren was so proud of Maanvi. He hugged her and wished her best of luck. He had hope inside him. So did Maanvi. She hoped that tomorrow would be a day of understanding'that Jeevika would understand and not lose hope and courage. That Jeevika would stand by her side like she always did.
At the crack of dawn the next morning Maanvi went into her sisters room. Never had she woken up this early. The sun was peeping through the window. Viren was up as well expecting Maanvi to be there. As soon as she came in her left the room realizing that the two sisters would need some privacy.
Once Viren had left Maanvi came and sat on the edge of Jeevika's bed. She placed her hand on her sister's forehead. Yes'she had a fever and most obviously this fever was caused because she was concerned about her sister. Jeevika woke up almost instantly at the touch of her sister. She sat up on her bed with her face turned away from Maanvi's. She was determined.
Maanvi: Di?
Jeevika did not respond.
Maanvi: Di aapko yaad hai. Bachpan mein aap merrey saath mazaak karthi thhi aur kehethi thi ki aapko bhi aapkey sapney ka raajkumar lekkey challa jayega ek din, mujhse door. Mein udaas hojaathi thhi. Phir aap mujhsey kehethi thi ki aap mazaak karri thii. Aur aap mujhsey kabhi juda nahi hogi. Usska baad aapney kahi baar yahi kaaha, ki dunya ki koybhi shakthi, aapko aur mujhey juda nahi karsakthi. Mein aaj aapko yahi yaad dilaaney ayi hoon di. Jo baath mein aapko bathaaney vaali hoon ussey aap please dariye ga math. Yaad rakhye gaa, ki dunya ki koy bhi shakthi, mujhey aur aapko juda nahi karsakthi hai. Kabhi nahi.
Jeevika: Mein nahi daroongi Mannu. Tu mujhey bathaa tho sahi. Kya chupaari mujshey? Ayssi kaun si baath hai. Mannu merra ji daar ke marrey ghab raa raha hai. Please bathaa dey Mannu'.aur bekaraar math kar mujhey. Please.
Maanvi: Di'.aapko patha hai aap ek hazaaaron mein nahi, ek crore mein nahi, puri duniya ki ek hi aap jayssi, meri di'dunya ki sabsey BEST behena. Aur aaj yeh best behena ko mein suchayi bathaa key rahoongi.
Jeevika: Bathaa Mannu'teri di terrey saath hai. Dunya ki koy bhi shakthi hummey alag nahi karsakthi Mannu'.batha mujhey.
This was it. Maanvi told herself to be strong. To not hesitate. Jeevika was a part of Maanvi, and Maanvi could not keep a part of herself away from the most important truth of her life.
Maanvi: Di'di'mein bimaar hoon.
Jeevika was scared however she yet again remembered and recited Maanvi's words.
Jeevika: Dunya ki koy bhi shakthi ' mujhey merri behen se door nahi kar sakthi.
Maanvi: Di ' mein bohoth bimaar hoon.
Jeevika: Dunya ki koy bhi shakthi ' mujhey merri Mannu seyy door nahi kar sakthi.
Maanvi : Di' ?
Jeevika : Bol Mannu'math dar. Dunya ki koy bhi shakthi hummara rishta nahi thor sakthi.
Maanvi: Di'mujhye'.di mujhey'di mujhey'cancer hai.
...the world around them froze'
'everything was silent'
'Maanvi was silent'
'and Jeevika's silence was scaring Maanvi'
The face of Maanvi's di was blank. There were no emotions.
Maanvi: Di?? Di? Aapko kuch bolyeh na!! Di?? Please!! Di!!!
Jeevika did not respond.
Maanvi: Di!! Mujhey daatyein'.daatyein mujhey par please khamosh math reheyeh! Please di'.kuch keheyeh na.
Jeevika did not respond.
Maanvi: Di??????????!!
Jeevika: Mannu'dunya ki koy bhi shakthi'mujhey aur merri behen ko juda nahi karsakthi.
Maanvi was so happy to hear and see that he Di had not lost her courage.
Jeevika: Jab hoga andhera'tab payegaa darh mera'.uss darh peyy phir hogi therri subhaa. Terri zindagi ki yeh raath ko mitaakey, mein tujhey subhaa dikhlaaongi Mannu. Dunya ki koy bhi shakthi mujhey aur merri behen ko alag nahi karsakthi.
Quote: Sisterly love never outgrows because your sister is a mirroring image of yourself, and you can't deny it.
Precap: Maanvi was dizzy'she was falling'she saw Virat's face'he was there, but he was not near enough. Maanvi fell on the floor and she felt the blood trickling down her head. Virat had not made it in time to catch her, hold her close and say that everything would be alright this time. He was too far away.
Sorry this part was not very VirMan romancey! I just got so carried away with the sisterly love. I hoped you liked the two truth confessions. I promise you all there will be more VirMan in the next part! Hope you enjoyed it :D x
