I was thinking about you today, like how long it has been since we last talked and here you are!

Dil ka rishta hai after all...

How are things at your end? I remember your headache and a cousin of yours was about to have an operation. Are you guys alright now?

My headache's better; though I won't say it's completely fine. My cousin on the other hand is recovering quite nicely.

Me... The end of 2023 was quite eventful. Yesterday was my last day at my old organization. So starting new year with new aspirations, in literal sense.

I have got another job as a lecturer in an esteemed private varsity here. So excited and nervous at the same time.

So that was all in a nutshell. Ab tum bolo.

Yahan toh kya hi kahe...

First, went to my hometown for Diwali after so long... Hadn't visited my village since before COVID.

Then, a national level competitive exam is held for PhD/JRF aspirants plus those who want jobs as professors/research assistants in nationally recognised institutes. So, let's just say I was buried in books for those... Although frankly, I don't have high expectations this time as I only had 5 months to prepare whereas the entire course is way too huge. In fact, it often takes aspirants 2-4 attempts to pass the exam.

Then, one of our distant relatives passed away in the most tragic manner. He was an officer in the forest department and went missing in the last week of November. His dead body was found around 10 days later in a lake around 30-40 kms away from home. So..... Aage kya hi kahe.

Sorry about being irregular... It's so damn freaking cold here that I just can't bring myself to sit and type long replies (and indulge in long chats). The weather definitely isn't the type to take hands out of gloves/blanket. Dus minutes ke liye gloves hatao toh haath ekdum barf jaise thande ho jaate hain.

Yup, we had a lot of fun with the entire family gathering together after so long... And of course, the fun in celebrating Diwali together. It was so enjoyable. The best part was that the air was so clean that I could literally see the Himalayas if I walked a short distance from home.

Wow! That's gotta be extremely hectic. I understand your apprehension but from what I know about you, you are extremely hard working and dedicated. So I have hope that you'll do great. Yeah, it's extremely hectic. You won't believe, when I went to give the exam, nearly 7 out of 10 examinees were those who were giving the exam for the second or third time.

I am hoping for a decent score but I know I am not going to get in the top 6% students who get the grants for PhD. I will try it again in June and hopefully I'll pass the exam then.

Of course I can simply take the University entrance exams and get admitted to PhD classes but that way, I won't get the scholarship and PhD here is quite expensive so, I am hoping I can pass the exam next time and get the scholarship.

The family as it is has a really tragic past. This incident was a huge blow for them.

Edit: Just got to know yesterday... His mother also passed away. She had suffered a huge trauma due to her son's sudden death and was in depression. She passed away yesterday due to a heart attack.

My friends mostly give up halfway... Or are the kind who actually like ridiculous stuff. Remember I told you about one friend of mine who was actually a fan of Ghum and Virat's character??

I got curious because the premise looked like a horror setting and opened the first episode. Behen, Jo irritate hue hain na bata nahi sakte. Like we have a 1000+ year old ghost/chudail/whatever and she is actually spouting more than half her dialogues in English or in modern dialect when the entire backdrop and the intro was in shuddh 18th or 19th century Hindi?!
