"I turn 25 today and I have no qualms over talking about my age. I started doing movies when I was 14. Back then, I couldn't even think of hiding my age. All my earlier interviews are still available. So, today, even if I try, I can't hide my age," says the actor, who is happy to be spending her birthday with her family in Mumbai.
The best part about her 25th birthday, says Asin, is that three of her childhood friends from New York, Liverpool and Australia have flown down to Mumbai just to spend her birthday. "They planned it without telling me anything and it all came as a surprise to me. As for gifts, my mother is very predictable. She'll gift me jewellery. My dad is into cars. Like last year, I think he'll give me a car again." Asin already has four cars in her garage.
Meanwhile, Asin is keeping busy workwise. "I've finished shooting for a Tamil movie called "Kaavalan" . Salman is going to remake it as " Bodyguard". "I am also doing "Ready" with Salman." So, is she interested in doing "Bodyguard" too? "While I'd love to do a movie with Salman, I don't know if it's right to repeat myself in back-to-back releases. Besides, doing the Hindi remake of one's own Tamil film can also get monotonous. I'll be shooting my next film in February but we aren't as yet ready to make any announcement on that yet. What about the buzz about she doing "Silence"? Asin breaks into a smile and says, "I'd like to maintain silence over "Silence"."
Any plans of coming down to Kolkata? "Oh! yes. I had planned to come down during the Durga Pujas. But I couldn't finally make it. I find a lot of common things between Malayalis and Bengalis. The love for fish, communism and the way we think — I know there is a lot of similarities between Bengal and Kerala. I guess, my next birthday wish would be to be able to come down to Bengal," she hopes.
While age is just a number, does Asin miss having a man in her life now? Especially, since there are so many link-up stories around her? "I too read so many stories about myself. Being in the movie business, I don't mind them as long as they don't get overboard. I haven't met anybody special. Besides, I've been too busy with work," she offers to explain. But work can never be a distraction when it comes to love, isn't it? "True, it's just that I haven't come across anyone yet. I have no blocks as far as whether the person should be from the film industry or not. I am looking for someone who is fun, dignified and has integrity of character." Are the guys listening?
