Alia Bhatt’s career has frequently been highlighted as an example of Bollywood’s tendency to favor industry insiders, sparking debate on the privileges she enjoys due to her family connections. Many feel that these connections have fast-tracked her opportunities, allowing her to secure lead roles and major projects that would be more challenging for others outside the industry to access. This privileged access has led some to question whether her path to stardom has been more influenced by her connections than her talent alone, highlighting Bollywood’s ongoing struggles with nepotism.

While there is no denying that nepotism has played a hand in shaping her career... especially in the early stages... I think she has grown into a wonderful actress beyond mere glamor.

I've always believed that nepotism can land you opportunities, but what you make of them is upto you.

There are plenty of examples of nepo kids who didn't survive beyond a movie or two because they couldn't show potential... if someone is as successful as Alia is, I think we should start appreciating their own hard work as well smiley1.

Just my thoughts on the never-ending nepotism debate smiley36.

Love,

Stuti

I Watched Alia Bhatt 's Movies

She's Just An Average Actress To Me

No Offense To Her Fans

Her Films Were Enjoyable To Me But Not Anymore

Talent, pure talent. If she had no talent, she would've been like other nepos - Esha Deol, the Khanna sisters, Tanisha, Uday Chopra to name a few. I don't consider Abhishek B a failure, the guy is talented and enjoyed average success earlier in his career, so didn't name him.

That's true, nepotism can certainly provide opportunities that others might not have. But it’s hard to ignore that those initial advantages often keep certain doors open longer than they might for someone else. While she's improved, it’s still difficult to separate her career from the influence of her background.

Good topic...thanks smiley1

Imo, it's a combination of three elements:

Alia undeniably has talent...Alia undeniably has privilege...but Alia also had Karan/Dharma who - undeniably - shaped her career... and she had been the first actress he mentored in a way an influential close relative would probably do.

Dharma and RedChillies launched three industry kids and one 'outsider' with SOTY (although SRK didn't take the role of the dean, he still co-produced the movie as he had promised to Karan). At that time, Karan wanted to do - first of all - a movie with Sidharth and Varun (both had closely worked with him as ADs for MNIK and Karan had developped a major liking for the former fashion model Sidharth). Given the college-theme he saw a good opportunity to launch more industry-kids and chose Alia and Boman Irani's son. He also re-launched Sana Saeed (the girl from KKHH, 12 years older now). Imo, it had been a good idea and the launching got much better accepted than Zoya's with The Archies.

I havent watched too many of her movies, but a couple I did watch, I found her just ok. Would she have been as successful without the backing, highly unlikely.
