Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Review and box office - Page 4

I just finished watching BB3 in cineplex here.

Madhuri had a full fledged substantial role, was prominant in the posters as well and had as much significant role as Vidya and Tripti had , plus screen time was also equalent to Vidya (although Vidya came in the first half but was hardly there).

Then how come and why she was credited as being in a "special appearance" ?

Maybe Madhuri herself asked to be mentioned as a special appearance as she felt she's not the lead.

There was no leading lady in the movie, she and vidya had equal roles, Tripti was just an unecesssry love interest of Kartik with two botched up small songs, she was not the lead either.

But I heard that both Madhuri and Vidya were wasted? Both of them were given very little to do apparently

There's an attempt here to discredit Kartik and claim that he is nothing without BB3. That BB3 would open as well without him.

In 2/3 of the movies, he's been the face of the franchise. And he's already confirmed for BB4 and with the success of BB3, it's safe to say that casting is going to stand.

What people don't realize is that any franchise or IP succeeds only because of the characters. And the characters succeed because of the actors. If we got Stree 3 with an entirely new cast of characters, or the same characters recast, it would not be the same experience because audiences will feel cheated. This won't feel like Stree to them regardless if the name is still Stree. This is why Race 3 failed because it took the Race name but had nothing to do with the previous Race films. And Saif is not even that big a star, especially not in comparison to Salman, but it goes to show that audiences were attached to Saif's Race films which is why Race 4 is going back to basics to correct for the mistake that was Race 3.

The best example of how a franchise/IP can fail without the actors people love is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The last few MCU films have all started to fail. Why, because audience are not attached to these characters. They loved the characters played by Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, ScarJo, etc. Now those actors are gone and even if there's a new Captain America or Iron Man, it doesn't matter because audiences don't feel connected to these recasts. Captain America is only Chris Evans for them. MCU has had a heavy decline which is why Robert Downey Jr is coming back because Marvel realizes that what audiences want is their fav actors back, that they grew up with and feel nostalgic for.

So if Marvel is learning this lesson that the world's biggest franchise is nothing if they change the actors, people here should realize the same is true for Bollywood, whether it's the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise or the Stree franchise. Like it or not, but Kartik is the face of the BB franchise now. Replace him and you can keep the BB name but it won't feel like BB anymore.

Fully agree. I still cant believe what they did with Bob Biswas. My comparison might not be on the same level, but trust me, casting anyone else as Bob Biswas has backfired big time, the movie could be a good spinoff otherwise.

I didn't even realize they made a spin-off movie on him. I googled it and sure enough, I can see why I never heard about it. They cast Abhishek Bachchan of all people. Why????

There was no reason to make that film if they had to recast.

What if Akshay comes back? As he was the original in BB.

I thought Akshay was in the third installment as cameo but it was not. Instead got Jawan :))

Akshay has forgotten how to act. Kartik is perfect for BB series now.

Akshay has moved onto the Stree franchise now.
