Good excuse. Kalki opened to 80 crore even during the T20 World Cup knockout matches. But 1st stage league matches affected (India was playing twice a week) affected Tiger3 .

The good opening is nowhere close to Jawan, Pathan or Kalki

There is nothing to wonder about here. He is and he is the only one true star in that space. Now whether one likes it or not is another matter.

One just needs to look at the reaction to trailers of his movies in this forum. It would look like every movie is a disaster/washout in the making, yet somehow they open the way they open.

Again, Prabhas' next release (Rajasaab) may be a washout in Hindi, but it won't change the fact. His lineup besides his immediate next is solid and it would be that way for a decade at the least.

It would take a monumental disastrous effort not just from Prabhas (which he seems to be doing anyway) but from the entire team for him to turn into a failure from this stage.

On a related note regarding stardom vs acting, a star need not be an actor at all. He just has to do what the audience likes him to do via gestures or physicality to carry on. Prabhas belongs to the Arnold, Stallone, Rock, Statham etc. kind of category with great screen presence. It is something a few Bollywood actors tried but failed miserably. So, it's not like anyone can do that. Prabhas is lucky that he is the one who has been accepted.

I am not a cricket enthusiast but T20 matches were late night matches, hardly might affect a show but that one was almost for the day.

I emphasize good opening without corporate booking.

That's another excuse. YRF did corporate bookings for Pathan which had immense hype, but they couldn't do it for a film with no hype like Tiger 3

And no T20 match started from 7 PM to 11 PM. That's peak business hours.

Are Rajni films grossing what Prabhas films do in North in Hindi? In fact Prabhas is outgrossing him in South too

To be fair one should look at the lifetime achievement...even in Kalki, Prabhas reportedly wasn't 'up to the mark'...the most praise went to AB senior... and the expensive VFX...

The topic is about box office, not acting and finding someone good or bad in a movie is purely subjective but box office is not.
