Just coming across this thread and after the first pic I guessed the comments.

Personally, I like him however his beard is...also his rugged look like this

He is an intelligent, sensible and kind man with a stunning talent and relatable screen presence nailing each character he enacts. There has still to be one of his movies I've watched where I didn't like his performance (in addition he even makes his co-actresses with lesser talent look good).

Like other actors not model-like looking he incites me to watch every of his movies because I'm sure I'll like his performance.

I wonder if there is any hope left for Vicky now?

Yes, he is now filming for Chhaava, the historical movie about Chhatrapati Sambhaji (the pic below your post shows how well he has shaped himself into this character).

So, he had to grow 'a lot of beard' to get it shaped into Sambhaji's one.
