Of course Muslim people of India and Anti India Indians will find it a small deal and would try to trivialize the derogatory comment. Let me remind them it's not a comment against the PM but the country . But they already know that and they don't care.

Did you do a survey to come to this conclusion of "Most Indians" or are you going by your preconceived notions against Indians based on your social media interactions?

Nobody supports a targeted Genocide against innocent civilians and especially children other than a few deranged individuals.

When was Canada made fun off? If anything, a few other nations came out in support.. USA being the biggest. It might actually help you to start getting your news from some credible sources rather than ABP/Aaj Tak/NDTV.. just saying.

Something got really out of hands quite quickly...

I took a bit of time to find the beginning of the whole process and it all started with the political Rally (=election campaign appearances Modi made from the 1st of January to the 4th :

Narendra Modi
@narendramodi

Over the next two days, I will be attending various programmes in Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and Kerala. The programmes will begin from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, where I will address the Convocation Ceremony of the Bharathidasan University. The new terminal building of the airport will also be inaugurated. At the same time, other development works will also be launched. These works will benefit several people. https://pib.gov.in/PressReleseDetail.aspx?PRID=1991902

I look forward to being among the people of Lakshadweep. Development works worth Rs. 1150 crore would either be inaugurated or their foundation stones would be laid. These works include projects relating to better internet connectivity, ensuring clean drinking water supply, solar energy, healthcare and more.

Then, the 5th, IndiaToday posts an article on Twitter which contains the writer's interpretation of Modi's Rally and it's the writer bringing up the comparison with the Maldives criticising the Maldives for the new politics especially in hinsight of China's political involvement in the region.

The Maledives minister Maryam Shiuna reposts a tweet about this article

It is very sad that a big country like India is trying to make money by copying a small economy like Sri Lanka. And this shows that they will never wish the Dhanvantaris well.

"PM #NarendraModi's push for #Lakshadweep as an island destination among travellers could also be seen as a counter to India's neighbour #Maldives - which is a popular beach destination among Indians."

Following the article are the diverse reactions from Maledives side and Indian side...and voilà, the war on social media...and here in the forum...

Conclusion (mine): policy strike to position the Indian voters' minds against another country to instill patriotic feelings and making forget how the Indian government ruines the own country.

Modi's motto: Make India proud (but don't make people ask the important questions)

...and 1-2-3 the new president of the Maldives - allegedly - fires the three ministers and promises to not let China in (maybe, he may now reconsider his politics towards India...).

And now ...Ayodhya... the next proud making celebration

Whoa, can't believe I am reading this.. but then at the same time, not surprised I guess. This is the mentality most Modi supporters have.. and then people have the courage to say "oh no India is for followers of all religions, we don't discriminate" 🤣

Twitter is a cesspool of extremists and they are the loudest. It would appear that the majority is pro genocide if someone has no minimal about India and its huge population and diversity. Moreover, the Indian nationals who joined IDF to take part in a genocide should be punished to set an example.

Common people do not go to Maldives, it is the upper middle class, Bollywood, wealthy business.

The PM of India showed the beauty of Lakshadweep, which is a part of India and asked people to travel and see the place.

Fyi Lakshadweep and Maldives are in a similar geography so the islands are beautiful.

India makes up more than 30% of travel to Maldives, even if 10% of that goes to India places, it will help the economy.

Maldives ministers screwed up by making fun and in fact were being racist to Indians.

Also unlike middle East where a lot of celebs own property, no one has a stake in Maldives.

This racism against Maldives pissed a lot of people off and were called out on social media. This was quite an organic outrage which was also helped by the IT cell.

In this climate it is the Bollywood folks who actually travel to Maldives, when Akshay, Salman started promoting Lakshadweep the rest had to follow as now if a Bollywood celeb promotes Maldives they would be trolled and boycotted

It was not against Modi but the racism against India that outraged people.

Maldives relies heavily on India for tourism plus a lot of Maldive population come to India for medical treatment. It was damage control by government to fire their ministers.
