Look, I am all for supporting local tourism. India is stunningly beautiful and has many hidden gems worthy of visiting. But I am not a fan of opportunistic jingoism and propaganda to promote tourism.

Firstly..there was no jingoism there. It was promotion of Lakshadweep. No country other than India was mentioned while doing so. Dunno why Maldivians took offence and started making derogatory remarks.

Second..how is promoting tourism propaganda? Then whole of Maldives economy survives on propaganda.

Lastly...there will always be sympathizers here for anything anti India calling Indians jingoist, hyper nationalist etc. But they will turn a blind eye to the fact that Maldives govt came to power by running n 'India Out' campaign. So be it..sack all ur ministers if u want to and cry. Or celebrate coz u got what u asked for.

Nobody cares about the PM, atleast I don't. They called India a Shit-hole, unclean & stinky comparing it to "Cow Dung". Indians are allowed to take offense to that, political ideologies notwithstanding.

Hogwash! UK's Prime Minister is a proud Hindu! Where else would you see a Prime Minister so proud of his religion and culture? He loves India and has India's best interest in heart which is why he makes it harder for Indian students to get student visa to the UK!

Honestly we can't do anything for Gaza children by raising voice. They have no government or army left to fight. Israel will do whatever it wants n capture whole land. Islamic countries have ditched Palestine like NATO ditched Ukraine.

We should just learn lesson from it to keep security in check which had become a issue with silk route.

PM was just promoting lakshadweep tourism like he did for tulip gardens in Kashmir. He said earlier too that instead of going to foreign location for wedding see local destinations as it helps economy.

Maldives ministers started making offensive remarks saying indian rooms smell.

What is saddening is that very few remember such deeds..be it on a personal level or public. Someone stood by u when u needed..but eventually zarurat khatam hone par fitrat badal jaati hai. Chaahe Maldives ho ya Bangladesh.. ideology wins.

Well for what it's worth, Lakshdweep is an effing beautiful place that has gone through hell in the past few years. Racist attacks like this are horrid and disgusting. Racism only breeds racism.

Funny how Bolly celebs and national media had nothing to say when people of lakshdweep were struggling to survive but now have pretty pictures to post in the name of tourism promotion.

Lakshdweep map par kahan hain itna agar bata sakein yeh maahan buddhijeevi toh main manu.

Oh, we should definitely take offense if someone makes unfair generalizations about our country. But at the same time, we should not generalize an entire country because of a few racist jerks, either. Moreover, the racists got fired.

Maldives is a relatively small country with minimal cache in the global economy. It's easy to boycott something that has no leverage and doesn't prove any moral stance. There are people in other countries who have said worse.
