Asha and Lata are God's special creation. I cannot believe among golden era voices only Asha ji is left now...I hope she takes care of her health.

It must have been really tough to lip sync to Lata Mangeshkar. She used to be the invisible heroine in films.

Asha ji sounds effortlessly cute, mischievous, and dramatic in songs like Accha ji main haari and Saanjh dhali dil ki lagi. Then there's the iconic Dum maro dum. I wish her good health and peace. ❤️

@Bold - Word. I consider myself fortunate that I could at least live in the era of Lata ji and Asha ji. Other legends were gone years ago.

Lata pulled off aggressive songs also very well. Who says she sang only romantic or bhajan? This song also makes me sad thinking how Lata, Amrish, Sridevi, Rishi are all no more now...

I have always said that Lata was very versatile. She had a very wide range of emotions she could emote. Something comedic like main kya karu raam mujhe bhudha mil gaya, to very spunky Chadti Jawani meri chaal mastani, to something like Pyaar kiya toh Darna kya. She sold each and every emotion.

Back then the entire music team used to be experts at their jobs. Music was fab, lyrics were hard hitting and singing was perfect. Overall such a flawless package.

Yes music and songs back then used to transport you to another world and lyrics were meaningful. As a listener you could also guess which hero or heroine this song must have been filmed on. The way Rafi sang for Shammi it was evident that the zany song was from a Shammi film. He brought speed and zest in his voice whenever he sang for Shammi.

There is a reason you can spend all day listening to old songs and lose track of time. But today's songs get forgotten soon like junk food.

True that. I always regretted why I was there in Rafi or Kishore era. But I am glad I got to hear Mangeshkar sisters. They really have it all. Talent, prestige, respect and longevity.

They were indeed heroines of all films. Only consummate actors could emote properly to their songs. Others fell flat or often their lack of acting talent was made up by Lata and Asha's expressions filling for the emoting gap.
