She captured the moods with perfection. In Piya tose naina lage re she totally sounds like a woman who is deeply in love...in Saiyyaan Beimaan...she's an anguished lover expressing pain and rage. ❤️

Waheeda Rehman in her interview said that Aaj phir jeene ki tamanna hai is her favourite Lata Mangeshkar song. It was also the first song from GUIDE to be recorded and there was a chance that the film would have released with just one song.

Lata Mangeshkar often emoted and had more expression than actresses themselves. Rather they had to work hard to emote to songs sung by Lata.

You can see Amrita was barely able to emote in 'Jaane kya baat hai' song in Sunny. Her expressions never matched Lata's voice.

Lata, Asha, Rafi Kishore used to visualise the situation ans actor and often brought expressions in own voice also to convey the emotion.

Agreed.

Amrita in Jaane kya baat hai was merely opening her mouth and moving her face for the sake of it. She looked awkward. 😆

@Bold - Indeed. In the song Sach hue sapne tere, for instance, I couldn't help but notice how Asha ji's singing voice totally matched Waheeda Rehman's wide smile in the line dheere dheere seekh liya ankhiyon ne muskaana.

You said it! Amrita could not do justice to Lata's song. I think even Poonam was average in Noorie.

Asha and Lata are God's special creation. I cannot believe among golden era voices only Asha ji is left now...I hope she takes care of her health.

Asha has also matched Madhubala's mischievousness in songs like Yeh kya kar daala tune.

There will never be any singers like Geeta Dutt, Asha, Lata, Rafi, Kishore, Mukesh again. They were all made of something else. Rare creations of God.

This reminds me of Rafi sahab singing for Shammi Kapoor. He could bring the right amount of naughtyness and playfulness in his voice, and it would suit and work for Shammiji beautifully.

So evident in songs like An Evening in Paris, Ye Chand Sa Roshan Chehra, Li Pyar Ne Angdhaayi.

Back then the entire music team used to be experts at their jobs. Music was fab, lyrics were hard hitting and singing was perfect. Overall such a flawless package.

Oh man yours too?

I cannot listen to these songs without shedding a tear. Esp in the second song because of the beautiful lyrics. ❤️

Radha and Meera were born in two different centuries, more than thousand years apart, yet their love for Krishna was just ❤️
