Rewatching makes me realise this film is Ranbir's career best for sure. No film can beat what he did, and this is the movie which will always remain a benchmark. Hard to beat by all his contemporaries.

Also I am gutted Priyanka did not win a Filmfare for this role, shows what phooey awards actually are!

Exactly. I have been in a similar situation previously so I know how painful and frustrating it can be, not getting closure.

OT: Remember that one scene after the kiss when Barfi goes to Shruti's house with the letter and finds out she's getting married? What must Barfi have felt that time.

There's one dialogue that Shruti says in the end, I got the English version but that pretty much shows why Barfi and Jhilmil were endgame.

But it was Jhilmil who got Barfi.

Because she didn't plan to fall in love.

She didn't think about the consequences.

She didn't think how life would turn out.

She just loved him unconditionally.

And it all turned out well in the end.

Also, Jhilmil could not express her feelings the way Shruti could, but the fact we all felt it showed how strong it was.

exactly this !!

the love jhilmil felt for barfi was so strong and the love barfi felt for jhilmil was equally strong .. they never planned to fall in love and they didn’t even fall in love over night , it was slow , gradual and became something so deep

  • Vidya Balan – Kahaani
  • Deepika Padukone – Cocktail
  • Kareena Kapoor – Heroine
  • Parineeti Chopra – Ishaqzaade
  • Priyanka Chopra – Barfi!
  • Sridevi – English Vinglish

Holy crap, did not realize how many strong performances happened that year...tough competition.

I must be in minority but the only two award worthy performances were Priyanka and Kareena that year. PC broke all barriers and shed her glam image which is a major risk for actresses and Kareena made a cheesy and OTT (yet truthful) film watchable. Her acting in the last scene was alone award worthy.

Vidya and Sridevi were a part of films with a strong story and script, it wouldn't really matter who played Vidya or Shashi, the story was that good. Deepika was great as Veronica but it wasn't Filmfare worthy and Parineeti was there after all the hoopla post LVRB, her best performance was Hasee Toh Phasee.
