She once said she didn’t like the roles she was getting, it just was another Koshish or Kora Gagaz something like that and she wasn’t interested...

Maybe it was her choice to focus on her children, just bcz AB sr didn’t take paternity leave means he suppressed her career for the sake of his own?

Look at her filmography, she has done several movies after 1973, the yr of her wedding, was three months pregnant when filming Sholay

In fact Amitabh had driven her up the bumpy unpaved road to the Thakur’s house in a four-wheeler himself. He wanted to make sure that she was comfortable.

But that doesn’t suit the narrative, does it?

And we all know 80s and 90s were golden age of BW as far women over certain age is concerned... There were several plum roles written just for them 😛

Because people are allowed to retire and focus on their health, family etc. Some people love working till old age and some people just want to enjoy their life after a point of time. Nothing wrong with either choice. She has grandkids that maybe she enjoys spending time with, or with her family, hobbies etc.

A man is never asked why he stopped working in BW, but woman are constantly asked after they get married. In the west, it's so progressive and yet some women do genuinely just want to quit work and spend time with kids. Nothing wrong with that if that's what makes them happy.
