It's set post partition India where the elites had developed habit of speaking in English. Looks good to me. Tabu and Ishan are not even the main leads. Those so called no name actors are actually pretty good and have been associated with some good web shows. They will be fine. However, this will appeal strictly to the higher class urban folks.

A suitable boy was such an amazing book. The trailer is quite underwhelming in comparison. I hope the main product is better.

Why do they have stereotypical accents? I haven't heard anyone speak like that in years!

And if they wanted Indian representation, couldn't they go for something else? Why is it always about arranged marriage, caste and religion difference?

Because its based on a book that talks about all of that and more. A suitable boy by vikram seth

What I mean is there are many books written by Indian authors that are not all that. If BBC wanted something Indian, should've gone for those instead of the same stereotypes.

A suitable boy is anything but that. You should try and read it sometime.

I didn't read the book, so had no idea about the storyline.

The trailer is a bit chaotic for me, way too much is happening simultaneously.

Tabu didn't stood out for me, it is easy to get her mixed in all the new faces.

I like the cinematography of the film, it looks so beautiful

I remember reading the book a long time ago. I can't understand how the story can be made into a 2 or 3 hour film. There are soooo many characters in the book and it has around 1300/1400 pages!! The book was too detailed and slow. Films can't be that way.

Coming to the trailer, none of the actors resembled the characters..not even Tabu. Nobody stood out and I don't know..didn't feel anything.

As far as I know, it's a TV series for BBC not a film

Accent was jarring, acting looks amateurish.

Except for cinematography, everything else about this tv series is mediocre. 😵

Not bad. it’s only a 1 minute trailer, I think the show itself will be better!
