Remakes of the foreign films are quite popular in Bollywood from a very long time whether it be Basu Chatterjee's Ek Ruka Hua Faisla or the recent release Bharat which starred Salman Khan. And if recent reports are to be believed, producer Sunir Kheterpal is in talks with actor Siddhant Chaturvedi for the Bollywood remake of Martin Scorcese's The Departed.
Recent reports by Peeping Moon suggests that Sunir who recently co-produced Amitabh Bachchan starrer Badla and Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari will be producing the remake. The report further adds that Chak De India director Shimit Amin will helm the film. However, it is not known whether Siddhant and Sunir discussed this film.
Siddhant Chaturvedi rose to fame with his debut on-screen performance in the Ranveer Singh starrer Gully Boy and is now being approached by many filmmakers to play the lead in their films. However, the actor is cautious about choosing his projects carefully.
Earlier, in an interview with PTI, the actor was quoted saying, "I am doing a film with Excel. But it is not my next film. The film with them is huge. It is a lead role." He further added, "I want to prove myself in a lead role and that script has to be bang on, so I take time to choose the right one. I believe every film is your first film. I haven't done much, I am yet to prove myself."
For the unversed, The Departed is a 2006 Hollywood flick directed by Martin Scorcese and the film starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson and Matt Damon in the lead roles. Who will replace these actors in the Bollywood remake? Comment your suggestions below.
