Did anyone watch Made in Heaven yet? It's an amazon prime series made by Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti (Talaash, Gold), Alankrita (Lipstick under my Burkha) and Nitya Mehra (Baar Baar Dekho). It's kind of Band Baaja Baaraat (male and female wedding planners) meets Mad Men (about their professional lives, i.e. their wedding event company, and personal lives).

Watched 2 episodes and while it has the typical Zoya tropes, it was decent and entertaining.

Watch the 1st episode.
Its good no doubt. Typical zoya akhtars ensemble cast episodics. The lead look a lot like Bani J

But I find that too many things are happening in one episode. Still didn't feel myself to be invested. Lets see how it turn out further. Find it little serious for my taste.

Till mow the only marriage based show i liked is Rishta.com. 😛

^ Yup agreed to both. The first episode had a lot going on and was a little hard to relate to, but I'm on the 3rd episode now and it got a bit better. Also most of the critics say the 2nd half of the season is better than the first so I guess it gets better along the way.

Had an off day yesterday so binge-watched the whole thing. Too lazy to write a long review, so will keep it terse.
Every episode brings a new wedding and with it come fresh social problems for the team at the wedding company to tackle. This can get a little monotonous and dull after a point, but the issues that are taken up are different at each wedding and quite relatable as well.

Karan's constant struggle with the society and the world at large is well depicted, and at times very disturbing to watch. Some politically sensitive folks may take issue with the portrayal of just one political group of the society being shown as villains.

The characters are deeply flawed. They make mistakes, connive, make up excuses for their mistakes or not so pleasant actions. Sometimes they are even totally confused in the head - the whole thing with Jim Sarbh's character. They should have given him more depth in my opinion. I just couldnt feel anything for his character.
Basically, no one's a doodh ka dhula here and the characters in the series also are quite aware of this fact.
Overal not a bad watch and entertaining. Reminds one of Dil Dhadakne do at times.

The only thing that made it worth it for me was Karan-Nawab's love story. I cried in the end I won't lie. I wish this one part was a show on its own. LGBTQ+ love stories told with such angst and softness deserve more. Other than that, the whole show is a borefest.

Spoiler alert!
Agree with this. That was a poignant one. Their backstory is both innocent and cruel and the way it all culminates. I was pleasantly surprised to see Vikrant Massey as Nawab. Wish they had introduced the older Nawab a little earlier in the story so we could have seen more of them. My heart skipped a beat when there is a message notification from Nawab after all those years.

Same. It was so heartbreakingly beautiful when they see each other after all those years of separation. So many moments stood out for me. The way they couldn't break the ice till Karan says 'I'm sorry' and you can see the way Nawab's face crumbles, his lips wobble. Massey's eyes say so much in that one moment. My heart was breaking.

The other one was when they were making love and they both get tearyeyed and smile while caressing each others' faces. Such a heart-stopping moment. The difference in that one scene and all the other so called scenes in the series. They were really good in that scene.

And lastly the 'Cant believe I hated you for so long' juxtaposed with 'Cant believe I have loved only you'. Poetic, impactful, and something that stays with you. Also the way Karan only opened up about police brutality to Nawab out of everyone. The way he only felt at home with him, to reveal something like that.

I really loved these two. I wanted more.

100% second all your points.
Another scene that broke my heart was in the flashback of school dayswhen Karan bullies Nawab to save himself from the humiliation and Nawab's first instinct while being clearly shocked is, 'we can talk it out, Karan'. All that trust just shattering in that one moment. This particular incident made the older Karan's transformation so much more touching.

Karan and Nawab hardly had any scenes, yet their story was the most impactful. The omnipresent Tara-Adil-Faiza trio made me feel nothing for them, whereas Karan and Nawab touched me everytime they were shown - from childhood to adulthood.
