Saba Qamar gets emotional as she recalls humiliating experience at international airport

Saba Qamar was in tears as she mentioned how humiliated she feels with the way she is frisked at the airports just because she owns a Pakistani passport.

If you think it is only Shah Rukh Khan who faced the brunt of discrimination at international airports, then you might not have heard what Pakistani actor Saba Qamarhas to say. Saba Qamar, who won laurels for her Bollywood debut in 2017 hit Hindi Medium opposite Irrfan Khan, poured her heart out while talking about the discrimination she and people of her country Pakistan face at international airports. The actor was in tears as she mentioned how humiliated she feels with the way she is frisked at the airports just because she owns a Pakistani passport.

In a 49 seconds video that has gone viral on social media, Saba is heard saying, "We boast about Pakistan. We say Pakistan is this and that. But when you go out of the country and the way we are checked, I can't tell you. I feel so humiliated the way I am frisked. I remember I want for a shoot in Tbilisi (Capital of Georgia) and my entire Indian crew was allowed to go. But I was stopped because of my Pakistani passport. I was investigated and they took my interview and then they let me go.

Adding to it the actor said, "That day I realised this is what our position is and this is where we stand.

9/11 has sadly changed a lot of things. That lapse in security caused one of the deadliest attacks in the world and resulted in the U.S. and a lot of other countries being paranoid and almost going overboard with the security concerns. I know it's unfair to generalise and its extremely humiliating to be frisked that way just because you belong to a certain country or religion but do we have a choice? Even a lot of Indians go through it when they have certain surnames. It's unfortunate but with the alarming rise in terrorism, it was bound to happen. Countries are bound to get paranoid and it is only going to worsen in the future. Chicago is the worst of the lot. People come back with such horrific stories to tell about the interrogations at the Port of Entry.

I think it's the Muslim religion people who get checked the most. I for one hate traveling because of the checking process and of course fear of flying too.

It's so common and not only Pak but usually all Muslims are humiliated in these checks and all this started after 9/11 attacks especially in US. It's sad but there is all sorts of racism when it comes to all these foreign countries. Indians suffer a lot as well.
