UL - Its a possibility he meant that...and I wish he did and agree with him too...but it is also possible that he wants to explore other industries (Mithai) to get a different flavour...or has some other priorities these days ...you are assuming a lot.

there are two ways of looking at his statement:

he is speaking as a filmmaker that is part of the industry
he is speaking as the audience that watches movies

As a filmmaker professionalism is to be expected. How can he not watch Hindi movies? But as a filmmaker that is part of the industry it is to be expected that he must be watching movies that are recommended to him. He has mentioned in an interview that he watches his wife's recommendations. Now there are several filmmakers on twitter that lie about every Friday release on twitter to keep their colleagues happy. That might be viewed as professional, but they mislead their followers.

I'm no fan of VVC I find him to be an extremist and judgmental type of individual, but for the audience there are several genres in movies: drama, horror, romance, thriller, masala, comedy. People prefer certain genres over others. If he isn't a fan of the genre KJO makes, then he has every right not to watch it as the audience and he is absolutely entitled to his opinion.
