He was lucky to be let off with a warning, but that doesn't mean he can do what he wants," Alok Nath says about his 24-year-old son, Shivang, who was booked for drunk driving on Monday night.
Shivang, along with four friends, was returning home after a party at a Khar pub when he avoided a routine check for drunk driving and sped away until cops chased him down. Later, it was found that he does not hold a licence. After coughing up a fine of Rs 2,600, he was asked to be present at the Bandra court yesterday morning.
Says Alok, "My son was present at the court and he accepted his mistake. Since it was his first offence, the court let him off with a strict warning. As a father, I told him that he shouldn't have taken the wheels (when drunk) and instead, requested someone else, who hadn't consumed alcohol, to drive."
He is quick to add that celebrity kids need to be more careful. "Everyone is the same before law and I do not like distinguishing between celebs and the aam junta, but one wrong move by a star kid and it immediately comes under the spotlight " even blown out of proportion, at times," he points out.
Famously known as Sanskari Babuji, the actor, on a lighter note, says, "I need to pass on some sanskaar to my son. I am sure he will learn from his mistakes."
