In an interview to Mirror (May 15) when asked what was happening with 'Munna Bhai 3', which he was to direct, Subhash Kapoor had admitted that he was clueless.'
"'Munna Bhai Chale Delhi' was going to be my next film after 'Jolly LLB'. It was about the world of politics and I was really excited. But then Sanjay Dutt went to jail and though Vinod (producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra) and I are in touch, I have no idea what's happening with that film," he said, adding that he couldn't imagine anyone but Sanjay and Arshad Warsi playing Munna and Circuit.

Now, Mirror has learnt that Kapoor will not be directing Part 3 in the series once Sanjay is out of prison. According to Vinod Chopra's spokesperson, the director had been given a detailed brief and a cheque amounting to lakhs to develop the script.
"But when he submitted the first draft, it was apparent that he was not on the same page as Vinod and Raju (Rajkumar Hirani, who has directed the two earlier film in the series, Munna Bhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munna Bhai).
The script he had submitted did not meet up to their expectations and it was decided then to take the franchise forward with another director. Subhash has since returned the money he was paid but continues to capitalise on the equity. He pretends he's still associated with the franchise, saying he is still not ready with the script and working on a sequel of Jolly LLB now, when the truth of the matter is that the production house is never going to return to him," adds the spokesperson.
When contacted, Subhash first responded with a text saying, "Nothing to add, thx."
But then he reverted saying, "Only one thing--the concept that I had submitted to Vinod for 'Munna Bhai 3' had a strong connect with the prevailing political situation in 2013 when the UPA was ruling the country. With Sanju's non-availability and the change of government at the Centre in 2014, it was felt that the concept may not be relevant anymore. So, Vinod and I have mutually decided to terminate our contract."
Ah well, Munna and Circuit will carry on with their adventures, without the Jolly Kapoor guiding them along. He'll probably be busy with 'Jolly LLB 2' by then.
