Mani Ratnam's film - This very same topic has a quote from the article saying Mani wanted to make a Hindi film with Aishwarya but got pushed because of her motherhood.

SLB's next - This one's only rumours but there's been too much buzz around it. Neither Aishwarya or SLB denied the news. Plus the article only said Aishwarya won't return until next year. But nowhere it said Ash being offered the film isn't true.

Devi Chaudhrani - Both Rituparno Ghosh and Aishwarya confirmed this movie. Ash was even studying Suchitra Sen's classics to prepare for her part. http://www.dnaindia.com/entertainment/report_whos-aishwarya-rais-inspiration_1529263

Viacom18's next - The CEO of Viacom18 production house confirmed that Aishwarya has signed their movie which will go on floors late 2012. Aishwarya's spokesperson confirmed it too. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com//entertainment/bollywood/newsinterviews/Aishwarya-Rai-to-do-a-film-next-year/articleshow/9037892.cms

Most of these filmmakers are doing other work now. They can't sit idle waiting for her - obviously. So they might shoot when she's ready.

These articles are very old...more than 6 months and some of the pre-pregnancy. I will not put much faith in them and wait for an official announcement. The world changes too fast to trust what someone said even a month ago.

^ Of course they were being planned to go on floors but she got pregnant so they have been put on hold. Anyway, believe what you want to. 😊

You thought Yuva, Guru and Raavan were terrible? I beg to differ. I will take those films any day over the 95% of crap that Bollywood churns out every year.

However, I will agree that Mani Ratnam makes better movies in Tamil, may be because he feels at home with the language. But I would not blame Abhishek for that! Vikram's performance in the Hindi version of Raavan got mixed reviews whereas Prithviraj potrayal of the same character in Tamil got him raves. Does that make Prithvi a better actor than Vikram? Heck no. Abhishek was spectacular in Yuva and Guru and there's no denying that. Of course your personal preference may have been Madhavan but can you deny Abhishek's contribution? In Raavan he tried something new which didn't work out, but I wouldn't call him a bad actor just because of that. The best of actors have cringeworthy performances/movies in their careers, but that's just a part of their experimenting process.

Regarding Sonam... Kareena too was quite bad in her early days. Yet Mani still cast her in Yuva right? Both you and I know Kareena's not the best actress out there. But we're not complaining as to why Mani didn't cast a better actress... WHY? Because she looked the part. So I will say we should wait. Mani is one of the finest filmmakers in the country. I trust his judgement. But that's just me of course.

Well thts ur POV...IMO abhishek lacks interest, passion and skill which makes him a painful watch onscreen. I cant give him credit for "attempting" something when i didnt find him impressive in any of those different roles. Its not just that madhavan was my personal preference, but ive always maintained, abhishek's acting is extremely laboured and jarring. He tries hard to act well which is a huge turn off. Anywayz, ive stopped trusting mani ratnam's judgement after his association with abhishek.

As for the sonam and kareena comparison, kareena had terrible films yes. But for every MPKDH, Yaadein and Khushi, she had an ashoka, a dev, a chameli, a refugee to back her up and put some credibility there...those were performances which received critics awards and rave reviews. Sonam hasnt had a single film so far wherein she received rave reviews/awards/acclaim except maybe delhi 6. Most of the response for her performances has at best been mixed, even for her better works like mausam. So the comparison dosent hold water. Its not abt looking the part. Its abt having an acting bone in ur body. And IMO, sonam and abhishek desperately lack that which is why many suggest tht they are better off being in some other proffession instead of acting because they dunt look like they even "Want" to act. They dunt have even an iota of the passion that Hrithik, Ranbir, kareena and some of the other star kids posses.

Fair enough, your opinion! You're entitled to it as I am entitled to mine.

I don't think Abhishek lacks interest or passion or skill. Had that been the case, after 17 flops he would have given up on his movie career like so many other star kids (Fardeen, Zayed, Esha etc). But he didn't. He kept working hard and achieved success. I give him the credit!

@Bold: Okay, so if you're basing your opinion on Kareena's credibility based on her awards and rave reviews, Abhishek received plenty for his films too! But you have diverse opinions about the two. So that doesn't add up! For me, they're both actors of equal calibre.

Regarding Sonam.. she's still 3-4 years old. So it's too early to write her off.

Anyway, let's agree to disagree.

I will put Abhishek above Hrithik in the acting department, (and I don't think very highly of Abhishek either).
