From a far off distance she could hear the other students completing the song that she had started, but it did not occur to her at the moment that they would feel her absence, she trusted Vivek enough with such domestic affairs, and that he would handle the situation diligently. Her mind at the moment was somewhere else, their were a number of questions running inside it, even more answers colliding with the questions it was only a matter of seconds when the right question would bump into the right answer.

"Hmm.You have no idea; I know really well how to handle such people. He's competition and good or bad, I'll live through it, what's his name btw?"

"Arnav Singh Raizada."

"Cranky? He's cranky? That was way beyond that, stupid Raizada!"

"So? Do I care if it's your room, or school, I can threaten you whenever, wherever I want to, who are you anyway?"

"Is it too bad?"

"Who knows, he is crazy you know that."

"For a moment I knew I was in for a verbal lashing, but he didn't say anything, so I opened my eyes to look at him, tenderly staring into mine. For a moment I don't know (despair evident in her voice) I felt lost in their depth, and I didn't even realize that where I was. When I saw that deep wound on his forehead, I touched it with care, and asked him if it hurt, he answered be back in the most unlikely way, softly, without passing any shrewd comments my way."

"Gupta, you really need to stay away from enclosed cupboards, that is unless you are fond of turning blue"

"Khushi dear, you have to learn to cooperate with everybody, and it's just really till the project ends. Besides, you don't know him all that well do you? Maybe he's just nice but in a habit of being hard or conservative."

"Destiny or no destiny, it's always fun to have books falling on your head"

"You wanna share?"

"Whatever that is, that's bugging you will be alright",

"It's alright. (she looked up at him with questioning eyes and he knew what she was worried about), your secret is safe with me, I wont say anything to anyone."

"This is marvelous! Cheers for the two of you, and your partnership!"

"I know. *pause* Stick with my last name Gupta, I like it that way better between us."

"I'll call you whatever I feel like calling you. Khushi, Gupta, whatever. That's none of your business. If you can show no respect for what I want, and when I specifically told you not to call me from my first name, you fail to register to it, and call me Arnav whenever you want to get your way with me, or at other times feel like doing so. When everything is about you, now for a change can I let everything be about me?"

"So did something change between you and that boy?"

"A lot has",

"So that partnership of Gupta and Raizada, actually worked out."

"You know what that was absolutely amazing! The reason nobody ever got a 50/50 in a Bio project is because of Ms.Anitas horrible pairing sense, but I guess for the first time ever she made some mistake putting the two of you together, which actually worked out way better than expected! You two are awesome together!"

"And, did I tell you, that I noticed Arnav staring at you, when I came in, you flattered him with your looks didn't you Chun?"

"Rai..zada .. Gu..pta .. It is Rai..*cough* zada for you"

"You are not *cough* going anywhere, Who knows another *sneeze* slimy fellow will bump in you (rubbing his red nose) offer you something, and you'll get into *cough* trouble again"

"What? I can make sandwiches. Go freshen up in Di's room, I'll have something by then"

"Are you in your senses? What with all the theatrical effect? I didn't propose you did I?"

"You know, you are so adorable..Raizadaa (he looks at her annoyed, she stops pulling) I know..I know..you don't like it..sorry..but well just so you know..call me with my last name..I love it when you do that okay? You don't need to go with Khushi, and honestly saying I don't think I hate my last name so much when you say it"

"Don't call me Khushi."

"You went to sleep on HIS SHOULDER? Didn't he say anything to you?"

"You stayed over last night, did not sleep for me. I don't like to keep favors, so this was the best chance to return that to you, and so I did."

"Can I hug you?"

"Nah I am not going to be sorry for hugging you, you should get use to of it now, I do that quite often to people I am fond off. *long pause* (extending her hand towards him) Though I think we are friends, but erm can we just make it official?"

"And don't stress your self out, Gupta. You don't want to be looking like patient tomorrow. It would be bad news for your bad ass droolers"

"Oh erm..no..I saw her at dad's military party when I was five..I developed I don't know..maybe a crush on her..but..it doesn't matter now..I don't care anymore about her."

"This girls resembles you. Is this you?"

"Even if it was, it wouldn't be much use to you. After all I can never be your Katniss can I?"

"All of your mood changes these days are related to him only, so I thought this might be as well"

"In that case maybe he can be my Peeta, but erm..erm..what chance are there that I can be his Katniss too?"

"I do care! The sooner you get that the better it will be."

"Becausee'(his anger trailing off) Because..you are my friend."

"You really wanna go back home?"

"I wish you didn't Raizada, but in fact you do. *pause* Has anybody ever told you how easy it is to look though you?"

"Does that mean we both are different?"

"Maybe, I never pondered."

"Gupta I told you, you are different. Wondered why? Because unlike most girls you can shield yourself from everything. You don't need someone to hold your hand or pick you up in their arms, Trust me you are strong, strong enough to hold yourself."

"Telling me that you cry, doesn't make you feel weak?"

"It doesn't. Weird though."

"Sometimes. (Khushi's faces falls) But I like your company"

"No I am not. Keep your head back, its making me a lot calmer."

"Well then, the best way to do that is, close your eyes tight, and go to sleep. Right now. Right here."

"Different? What's different? It's the same him, the same you, then what changed?"

"Who Khushi? Oh, that Khushi? That Arnav wali Khushi?"

"Nobody did, nobody has to. I already know you are mine."

"You two look great together, by the way."

"I think Arnav likes you."

"I know Raizada. He cant fall for me. I don't know, that atleast what I would like to belive, that he cant."

"Gupta. Please come back."

"Well, if you can sleep on my shoulder if you want to. Look around that's what everyone's doing."

"Ssshh. Go to sleep now, and let me sleep too."

"His best friend! Who are you?"

Her mind stopped thinking that real instance as she stopped hobbling on her injured leg, and stood in front of the calm, sky blue lake the moon shining its white light on it making it look majestic. She blinked her eyes in slow motion, staring at the vastness of the lake before her, the end not visible to her, just like she could see her own life, the mirror image of the truth coming face to face with her.

"I love him." She whispered to herself, the howling wind around her drowning all her words within herself. The small smile of ecstasy grew on her face yet again, her sight still staring beyond imagination, she shifting her place so that now the dispersed rays of white light were hitting her, making her face glow with pure happiness.

"I love him." She heard herself saying again, her eyes dropping low, and then opening up again in slow motion, that images from her dream replaying in her mind.

"I love him. I love him danmmit!" Khushi Kumari Gupta shouted over the sound of the howling wind, and the mildly frosty night spinning about on the steep rock that she was standing on, the jagged rocks finely piercing the skin of her feet, but the pain of it went unnoticed in the sea of happiness that she found herself drowning. Suddenly, her pupils going wide, and adrenaline taking over her senses, Khushi realized that something was wrong about her, and in one single moment of fear, she could feel herself, falling backwards, completely dis balanced, and it was just the time of luck, or maybe just the plain work of destiny, that a firm hand gripped her free falling hand, pulling her back to surface in an instance.

Shutting her eyes tight, with much apprehension, she opened one eye, then the second one, slowly, her eyes meeting the one person who she just couldn't face right at the moment. Arnav stared at her sheepishly, some of his features portraying anger for his negligence to her health, others painting pure concern on his face, and maybe a thread layer marking the expression of curiosity.

"Who is he?" he asked her in a curious yet, freezed tone, and in that individual moment being responsible, Khushi found herself face to face into accepting the biggest truth of her life.
