Chapter 16
Recap-Ranbir gifts Kanya with messages in pills to keep Kanya going only for her to overdose on the messages. Pooja send Kanya to Ranbir.
Ranbir and Kanya wake up after their night of passion. Still holding the other in each other's arms. Kanya looks at Ranbir not being able to take her eyes off of him. She couldn't help but feel like she didn't deserve a guy like Ranbir. He was too good for her but thanked her lucky stars that even though she found him now that she actually found him.
They both got a wash but Kanya's clothes were in Pooja's room so Ranbir ended up getting them for her by asking Pooja. Pooja was all smiles and told Ranbir that she was glad that Ranbir was by Kanya's side and that he's a good guy. She aslso apologized for past misendevours as both didn't like each other in the past. Ranbir gets back to Kanya and she gets ready.
Ranbir and Kanya head out after having breakfast to see the consultant as Kanya was referred to another specialist that dealt with Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Dr. Lucas Scott he was a guy who was in his mid 30's but specialised his expertise in all things to do with the heart. He'd been doing this work for over 6 years and the success rate was 50/50 as the condtions varied depending on how sever the patients illness was. Ranbir made sure that Lucas came for them as he pulled a few strings. Lucas was a good friend of Ranbir's too. They'd met each other for their pharmaceutical meetings as Ranbir dabbled in several businesses.
R-Hi Luke! I mean doctor Scott.
L-Hi Ranbir and Luke is fine by me.
K-U 2 know each other.
L-Known each other from our pharmaceutical company.
R-He's one of my drinking buddies too.
K-Well this is all good.
R-Well she's Kanya the person i called about.
L-Ur love right. Kanya this guy never looked at women before only as a one nighter. Sorry but he's a commitment phobe. Now look at him all caring.
K-I know everything about his past i've known him since we were in school and i used to tease him like crazy now i guess people do change.
R-Luke can we please not get into this.
L-Well Kanya it was nice meeting U.
K-We have to meet up and talk more about Ranbir.
R-Back to why we R here.
L-Kanya from these reports your condition has been like this over a year but its deteriorating really fast.
R-So what R her chances?
L-Its not high most of my patientrs i opearte on 50%-75% R their chances. As a friend and doctor i advice U although 35% R your chances and seem slim U need to understand that opearting is the only way. Otherwise 2-3 weeks R the maximum U might live without the operation. Its is important U know all this.
K-I get it. For Ranbir i accept these conditions.
R-U will be in good hands Kanya this is his expertise. He's the best.
L-U need to know this operation needs to take place as soon as possible. 1 - 3 days can't waste any time. Ranbir had booked me for this whole week but reading the file i fear we can't wait long.
K-Thats too soon. Pooja di.
R-I will take care of her ok U stay put your bags R already packed. Pooja Di will be notified by today i promise. Don't worry.
K-As long as U R with me i fear nothing.
L-Over the next few days will get to know U better Kanya just wish it was over something better.
K-So when do i need to be admitted.
R-Today Kanya i am not wasting any precious time. The sooner the better.
K-But Ranbir?
R-U will do it when ever U R ready Luke and thanks mate. We need to meet up maybe for a fundraiser coming up.
L-Fundraiser. Kanya what have U done to Ranbir.
K-Just made him see others around him and let people in.
L-We will moniter U for today and if all is well we will do the operation tonight or tomorrow. This is all being done privately so everything should go smoothly.
R-Thank U for this so much.
Ranbir kisses Kanya and promises to come at night with her sister but he will be around to see her. Ranbir and Lucas have a little chat about old times and Ranbir's favourite topic Kanya. They discuss Radha too.
The afternoon
Ranbir came by with Kanya's clothes and sat by her in her private room. Kanya was a little tense she felt this was happening too fast but then again it had to be done otherwise she'd lose Ranbir. He'd only just opened up and started caring about life she didn't wnt him going backwards. Lucas was sweet and knew she was in capable hands he looked after her well.
R-Hows it going?
K-Missing Pooja di and U.
R-Its only been a few hours.
K-Those few hours kill Ranbir.
R-Please don't say kill.
K-Ranbir U need to know that theres a chance i won't make it.
R-Kanya think positive. For me i'm scared too. I never admit it to anyone but U its like myfeelings just flood out. If anything happens to U. I don't know what i'll do.
K-Ranbir(holds his hands) If I die please promise me U will be happy and make others happy U won't go back to being cold not letting anyone in.
R-(Covers her mouth) Kanya i will pray for us and Pooja Di is coming U don't want to scare her talking like that. Here. (Hands her the happy pills) Read one now. I don't trust U with the whole thing. I have 8 on me read this.
She opens the pill gets the paper out and reads it. U R my strength, my soul my life nothing can take that away not even God as ur essence is mine and mine is your. Kanya flings her arms around Ranbir and gives him the biggest kiss. Lucas comes in and smiles.
L-Carry on guys this is a hospital.
Kanya gets shy and Ranbir just smirks at Luke.
Night Time
Ranbir brings Pooja Di and they visit Kanya. For some unknown reason Ranbir purposely didn't bring Radha. Kanya was insistant but he didn't want Kanya talking to her. Pooja hugged her sister and had a sister bonding session. Ranbir had given Kanya her next message and left the room.
P-Ranbir is crazy in love with U. I wish i met him first.
K-Di he's mine.
P-I know baby but kya karu he dotes on U. He gives U these sweet messages. Never has anyone ever done that any where he is unique.
K-Di after this operation i will find U a guy just like Ranbir.
P-One that makes pills.
K-Yes Di i whave found him and will talk about U to him now R U happy.
P-Yes.
Visitin time is over but Ranbir hangs about as Kanya gets in the theatre to get her opertaion. Lucas is all geared up and masked up as he starts with the procedures with the help of his colleagues while Ranbir wears a hole in the waiting room pacing up and down.

Please yaar don't kill kanya off now. It would really make a heart warming story if kanya makes it through. You know even SRK says in Om Shanti Om in the end everything goes well just like in our films and if it is not good then picture abhi bakhi hai dost. Please begging you don't kill kanya.
