Part 9 –

 

Next morning at 10 a.m., in a coffee shop kripa and her mother gayatri were sitting –

 

Gayatri – so what exactly happened between you two?

Kripa – I don't want to go into it, mamma.

Gayatri – but beta, I need to know. One moment you two were there in the party and next time I looked you and prithvi were gone. Did you too have an argument? I wouldn't be surprised if you did. Prithvi has a jealous streak and you did appear to be enjoying yourself with angad khanna, who incidentally, is an extraordinary attractive young man with a strong look of his father. He disappeared as well and he didn't come back.

Kripa – prithvi and I did have a few words.

Gayatri – (frowned slightly) prithvi's hopelessly in love with you, beta. You are putting him under quite a bit of pressure.

Kripa – are you suggesting I should sleep with him, mamma?

Gayatri – who would blame you if you had that in mind? You are engaged and getting married in 2 months.(gayatri is a jerkkkkkkkk)

Kripa – (angry) so prithvi should feel free to force me to sleep with him?

Gayatri – beta that's not what he tried to do? Everything has been going so very well.

Kripa – he was drunk, mamma. I've never seen him like that before. Losing to angad set him off.
Gayatri – that's one of his little failings.

Kripa – I don't know that we should count that as a little failing. In many ways prithvi is a spoiled rotten. His mother idolizes him.

Gayatri – she couldn't love him more than your father and I love you.

Kripa – does dad loves me?  God, did I really say that! I'd really like to know. He wants to love me, he tries hard to love me but it seems to place too much of a burden on him.

Gayatri – you shocked me. Your father is a reserved man. You know that. He doesn't know how to be demonstrative. You have to take it into account.

Kripa – I assure you have done, for years. Why did you married him? You both are different people.

Gayatri – I suppose we are. But we were very much in love.

Kripa – well that's good to here. Actually dad loves you to death! He tolerates me, because I look like you.

Gayatri – krips you are upsetting me.

Kripa – tha's certainly not my intention. There couldn't be many fathers who would behave like this.

Gayatri – krips give him time he will apologise for his less than acceptable behaviour last night. I know he will. He's mad about you, krips.

Kripa – why exactly? It's becoming as much a mystry to me as you and dad. Prithvi worked very hard to sweep me off my feet. He was determined to and he succeeded. You welcomed him as a prospective son – in – law, so did dad. At long last I'm in dad's good books. He's been much more relaxed with me since the engagement, hasn't he? I pleased him, made him proud. It was a good feeling. For a while.

Gayatri – don't make any hasty decisions you might come to regret. A devil gets into the best of men from time to time.

Kripa – you sound like you know what you're talking about. Actually you sound like you led a secret life, mamma.

Gayatri – my past is a open book. I had a boyfriend before I got married to your dad. But it was past. Love is madness anyway, and short lived! Your father and I mightn't appeared as demonstrative as other couples but we understand each other. We will stay together.

Kripa – there had to be something about her parents relationship, she couldn't see. Can you imagine your life without him?

 

She looked like her mother but her temperament and approach to life was entirely different. Where did it came from? Not from her father.

Gayatri – what a question!!!

Kripa – I don't think I want to marry prithvi and leave you behind. I feel differently about prithvi today.

Gayatri – give yourself a little time, you are shocked by his behaviour. Did you want your father to talk to him?

Kripa – please no, mamma. I told him our engagement is over.

Gayatri – but you're not going to do that, are you?

Kripa – whatever happened I dealt with it. Angad came at the right moment to back me up.

Gayatri – so angad rescued you like a true hero?

Kripa – yeh he knocked  prithvi down.

Gayatri – ohh good, I must say he has to wait a long time to do that. Prithvi put angad in hospital when they were boys, it's no secret.

Kripa – I didn't knew prithvi was such a bully actually until last night I didn't knew this.

Gayatri – you use to wave to angad whenever you saw him in town. You didn't waved to everyone.

Kripa – he told me I used to wave . I didn't remember at all . (she was trying hard to remember)

Gayatri – he was a handsome boy and now a striking young man. I wanted to befriend his mom but your dad was very much against it.

His dad was going to get married to other lady but he married his mom.

Kripa – you know I returned the ring also.

Gayatri – he must be shell shocked.
