Chapter Twelve

"Aur Khushi ki conditions kya hai?" asked Mrs. Singhania lovingly.

"Khushi ki first condition yeh hai ki Khushi ko apna school nahi chodna. Mere bohot friends bane hai school mein" said Khushi.

"Agreed to your first condition" said Mrs. Singhania while Mr. Singhania asked, "Which school do you go to?"

"St.Louis School" Khushi said proudly.

"Both my sons went to the same school" said Mr. Singhania.

"Khushi baby, what is your next condition?" asked Mrs. Singhania lovingly.

"Khushi apna name change nahi karegi. Mera naam Khushi Singh hai, Khushi Singhania nahi hoga" said Khushi.

Granny looked a bit worried after hearing Khushi's second condition. She was anxious to know Mr. and Mrs. Singhania's reply; so were Rey, Taani, Swayam and Sharon.

"Khushi apne mumma dadda se bohot paar karti hai na?" asked Mrs. Singhania.

"Bohot"said Khushi stretching her hands wide to show how much she loved and missed them.

"Kya tum humse bhi utna pyaar karogi?" she again asked.

Khushi nodded saying, "Yes."

"Aap dono iski baato ko seriously mat lo. Yeh abhi bacchi hai. Aise hi keh rahi hai ki name change nahi hoga" said Granny wondering that they didn't like Khushi's condition.

"Khushi ko apna name nahi change karna hai na so we won't force her. Agar vo chahe toh same rakh sakti hai ya change kar sakti hai. We have no problem with it" said Mr. Singhania.

Granny felt really happy to know that Khushi is going to a place where she'll get a lot of love. Her eyes were moist.

"Khushi ki final condition toh koi sunana hi nahi chahata" said Khushi with an angry pout.

Mrs. Singhania smiled and said, "Kya hai final condition?"

"Aapko mujhe roz Rey bhaiyya se milne jaane dena hoga. Voh roz mujhe park mein milte hai. Aapko allow karna hoga" she said with the cutest pout ever.

"Rey se yeh park mein mili thi. It's because of Rey that she has become chirpy, warna pehle toh kisise bhi baat nahi karti thi. Rey atcha ladka hai. I don't think ki aapko usse koi problem hogi" explained Granny.

Rey was stunned. He had never imagined that he meant so much to her. His eyes were sparkling due to the tears forming. Taani saw him teary eyed. She felt an urge to wipe away his tears but controlled herself. Rey saw Taani looking at him. He saw her eyes were saying something. Her eyes showed her happiness. He smiled at her. Their small eye-lock was broken by Mrs. Singhania.

 "Rey...Khushi mein tumhe Rey se roz park mein milne jaane nahi de sakti" she said.

Khushi's smile faded. She had a frown on her face. Rey felt angry on hearing what his Mom said. He was going to jump inside through the window. Swayam, Taani and Sharon controlled him.

"Kyunki" continued Mrs. Singhania, "Mein Khushi ko uske Rey bhaiyya ke saath rehne leke jaa rahi hu!"

Khushi's eyes sparkled. Rey felt a bit relieved. Granny was staring in confusion.

"Hum Rey aur Swayam ke parents hai" Mr. Singhania cleared her confusion.

"Matlab aap Rey bhaiyya aur Swayam Bhaiyya ke mumma dadda ho?" asked Khushi with a wide grin.

"Yes sweetheart" came a voice from the window.

"Rey bhaiyya aap kab aaye" Khushi exclaimed.

Rey hopped in and said, "Bas abhi. So tum mere saath aane ke liye ready ho?" he asked.

"Chalo" said Khushi and hopped in his arms.

"Toh tum apna samaan yehi chod ke jana chahati ho?" asked Taani coming in through the door.

"Yeh toh meine socha hi nahi" she said sheepishly.

"Chalo hum tumhari bag pack kar lete hai" said Sharon.

They all went to her room. Mr. and Mrs. Singhania stayed back with Granny and completed the legal work for adoption.

"Yeh hai Khushi Singh ka room" said Khushi entering a room.

They entered a room which was full of mess. All clothes were lying on the floor. Her school bag was lying in one corner of the room. The four stood rooted at the entrance.

"Khushi yeh kya halath banake rakhi hai tumne" said Taani after recovering from the shock.

"Voh mujhe photo nahi mil rahi thi. Isiliye yeh sab" said Khushi giggling continuously.

"Kaunsi photo" inquired Rey.

"Mumma dadda ki. Yeh rahi photo" said Khushi and showed them the picture.

It was her pic with her parents. She was in her dad's arm. Taani smiled looking at the photo while tears appeared in her eyes. Rey saw her and went towards her.

"Missing your mom and dad?" Rey asked Taani.

Taani nodded saying yes. She looked up at him and saw his concerned face.

"Rey, it's the first time mein apne mom dad se durr hu, so kabhi kabhi yaad aa jati hai. I'll be fine. You don't have to worry" said Taani wiping away her tears.

They started packing Khushi's clothes and books. Many a times Rey and Taani bumped into each other. They were experiencing new and strange feelings but were not ready to accept their feelings.

After completing with the packing, Khushi bid good bye to Granny and left to see her new home. She was sitting on Rey's lap. Taani was sitting near the window, while Rey beside her. Her hair were continuously blowing, because of the wind, and falling on Rey's face. He was feeling ticklish with each strand touching his face. Taani noticed that her hair were disturbing Rey so she closed the window and sat quietly wondering why didn't he tell her. Soon they reached home.

Khushi jumped out of the car and saw the huge mansion.

"Itna bada ghar" she said while her mouth was curved in a perfect 'O' shape.

"Excited to see your new room?" asked Rey.

She literally pulled him in the house. Taani, Swayam and Sharon were smiling seeing her antiques.

"Itni bhi kya jaldi hai sweetheart!" said Rey and winked at her.

"No one is coming up till I say" he said while leaving.

"Abh yeh kya kar raha hai!" frowned Swayam.

"Khushi ke liye kuch surprise plan kar raha hai" said Taani.

"Mere liye surprise? Taani didi batao na, please!" pleaded Khushi.

"Surprise hai dear. Abhi bata dungi toh surprise ka maza nahi aayega aur Rey mujhe maar dalega!" said Taani.

"Swayam tumhe pata hai iss surprise ke baare mein?" asked Sharon.

"No yaar! Rey ne kuch bhi nahi bataya" said Swayam.

"Tumhara toh theek hai, but can you imagine Rey ne mujhe, uski best friend ko bhi nahi bataya!" said Sharon dramatically.

"Exactly! Usne toh tumhara birthday surprise bhi tumhare saath plan kiya tha and today kuch nahi! Weird!" exclaimed Swayam.

"Sharon voh isliye kyunki he didn't want to disturb you and Swayam. Tum dono bohot busy the" said Taani with a wink.

"Matlab?" asked Khushi innocently.

"Voh tum apni Sharon BHABHI se hi puch lo" said Taani emphasizing on the word Bhabhi while Sharon and Swayam turned red.

"Sharon Bhabhi?" asked Khushi confusingly.

"See its simple. Swayam tumhara bhai hai aur Sharon is his special friend jo aage jake tumhari bhabhi banegi. Toh abhi se hi bula do" said Taani and winked to Sharon.

"Waise to aap bhi meri bhabhi ho. Aap Rey bhaiyya ki special friend ho aur meri bhabhi"said Khushi.

"Khushi your surprise is ready!" Rey called from upstairs.

Khushi ran up to see her surprise. Taani was rooted on her place. Khushi's words were playing in her mind. She didn't know how to react. Sharon saw her and came to her.

"Taani mein jaanti hu ki tumhe yeh surprise ke baare mein pata hai, but still you can join us" said Sharon and left. Taani followed.

Khushi went and opened the room. She was stunned seeing it. The walls were painted in her favourite red colour. There were dozens of soft toys lying on a huge bed. There was a cute wardrobe with many dresses for her. In one corner of the room was a study table with a tom and jerry table lamp. Khushi was just looking here and there. Her gaze stopped and focused on the photo frame above the bed. It was the same photo with her parents. She jumped up on the bed and hugged the photo.

"Rey bhaiyya aapne yeh sab kiya?" she asked.

"Haan! Bas photo frame ka idea Taani ka tha" said Rey and looked at Taani.

Khushi ran and hugged Taani's feet. Taani picked her in her arms, hugged her and pecked her forehead.

"Kaisa laga surprise?" asked Taani.

"Bohot bohot bohot atcha hai! Thank you!" Khushi exclaimed.

"Dinner is ready" came Mrs. Singhania's voice.

"Coming!"all of them said together.

While going out Sharon pulled Rey back.

"Sharon, mein Rey hu Swayam nahi!" he said and chuckled.

"Shut up you idiot! Mein tujhse bohot naraz hu!" she said.

"Kyun?Meine kya kiya?" he asked raising one brow.

"Tumne surprise plan kiya aur mujhe nahi bataya!" she exclaimed.

"Meine bataya toh..oh no! how could I forget!" exclaimed Rey.

"Exactly! How could you! Tumne Taani ko bataya aur mujhe nahi! I'm not talking to you!" saying this she left.

"Crap! Sharon gussa! Rey tu toh gaya!" exclaimed Rey and went behind her.

Everyone was having dinner with fun and masti going on. Rey and Taani were stealing glances of each other. So were Sharon and Swayam. Khushi was enjoying a lot in her new house. Sharon was giving glares to Rey whenever he tried to apologise. After dinner Khushi slept immediately. Rey and Swayam went to drop Taani and Sharon respectively.

Cool wind was blowing. Taani shivered. Rey pulled off his jacket and gave it to her.

"Rey, its ok. I'll manage" said Taani.

"Taani, you are one of the most luckiest person who is being offered to wear my jacket. Sab ladkiya marti hai isse pehene ke liye. Aur tum refuse kar rahi ho!" he said dramatically.

"Vo isliye kyunki mein baaki sab ladkiyon jaisi nahi hu" said Taani.

"Right Taani! You are one friend who should be treasured" said Rey looking into her eyes.

She too got lost in his warm eyes. They shared a long eye lock which was broken by a thunder. Taani handed him his jacket, wished good night and hurried into her house. Rey returned back home and went to bed with a sweet smile on his face.
