Chapter Thirteen

Next morning Taani wakes up early. She is still in her blues when she realizes that they have very few days left for the competition. She quickly grabs her phone to make a call.

'Rey ko call karke puchti hun ki rehearsals kab hai. Ek minute, yeh mein Sharon ya Swayam ko bhi puch sakti hun. Why only Rey?' she thinks.

'Waise toh aap bhi meri bhabhi ho' Khushi's words ring in her mind.

'Taani don't overthink. Rey CS hai. So you should call him' she tells herself.

Here Rey has woken up and is getting ready. Khushi is busy playing on his phone. Taani's phone ruins her game.

"Hello, kaun hai" Khushi asked irritated.

"Good Morning Khushi, Mein Taani bol rahi hu. Rey hai?" asked Taani.

"Kya kaam hai jaldi bolo. Mera game spoil kar diya!" said Khushi.

"Sorry. Rey ko bolna mujhe call back kare" said Taani.

"Ok" said Khushi and kept the phone.

"Khushi kiska phone tha?" asked Rey coming out of the washroom.

"Taani bhabhi ka" said Khushi absent minded.

"Bhabhi?" wonders Rey and smiles unknowingly.

"Taani tumhari bhabhi kab hui?" asked Rey.

"Kal hi. Unhone kaha ki jaise Sharon bhabhi Swayam bhaiyya ki special friend hai wasie hi vo aapki" said Khushi still playing the game.

'Taani ne aisa kaha. Par kyu? Mujhe pata lagana hoga' Rey wonders.

"Rey, Swayam kuch kaam se bahar gaya hai. Voh college aaj late aayega" informed his mom.

"Aaj Sharon ka college mein mann nahi lagega" chuckled Rey.

'Oh shit! Sharon mujhse ab bhi gussa hai. Voh toh mujhe katcha chaba jayegi' remembers Rey.

'Idea! Mein aaj Swayam banke jata hun. Iss tarah Sharon se bhi bach jaunga aur Taani se bhi baat hojayegi. Wah Rey you are too good' Rey pats his back and again goes to change in Swayam's outfit.

In college, Sharon and Taani are chit-chatting in the canteen.

"Taani, ek baat puchu?" asked Sharon.

"Haan pucho na" said Taani.

"Tumhe kis type ka ladka pasand hai? I mean what is your type?" asked Sharon.

"Jyada kuch expectations nahi hai. Bus sweet, caring, charming hona chahiye. Aur bas yeh ki voh sirf muhjse behad pyaar kare" said Taani.

'Yeh toh Rey ka description hai. Just the last line doesn't apply to him as of now' thinks Sharon.

"Aise achanak kyun puch rahi hao?" asked Taani.

"Bas aise hi" replied Sharon.

"Hi girls" said Rey coming into the canteen.

"Hey Swayam" both greet him.

"Tum dono yaha baith ke chit-chat kar rahi ho. Rehearsals kon karega?" asked Rey.

"Tum Rey ki tarah kyu bol rahe ho?" asked Sharon.

"Kya hua, Rey ko miss kar rahi ho?" he asked.

"Rey hai kahan?" asked Taani.

"Woh late aane wala hai. Mom ne usse kuch kaam se bheja hai" said Rey

"Let him come! I swear I won't leave him!" exclaimed Sharon.

Rey gulped down some saliva. He thought before Sharon finds out that he is Rey he should get going from there.

"Taani five minutes mein projector room mein milna kuch discuss karna hai" he said while leaving.

Taani arrives in the projector room.

"Haan Swayam kya kaam hai?" she asked.

"Kaam..vo toh hogaya" said Rey.

"You sure?" she asked.

"Voh chodo. Tum mujhe batao, tum Khushi ki bhabhi kaise hui?" he asked directly.

Taani took a minute to digest what he asked, then replied, "Voh Khushi ne bas aise hi bol diya kal. Bacchi hai kuch bhi bolte rehti hai!" She gave an excuse.

"Are you sure?" he again asked.

"Swayam tum aise kyun puch rahe ho?" she asked.

"Voh isliye kyunki pichle kuch dino mein tum dono kaafi atche dost ban gaye ho. Aur kai baar toh ek dusre mein itna kho jaate ho ki baaki kuch exist hi nahi karta" said Sharon coming in.

"Huh?" wondered Rey.

"Sharon jaisa tum soch rahi ho vaisa kuch nahi hai. Rey and I, we are only friends. Nothing more than that. Mujhe kuch kaam yaad agaya. I'll meet you later" excused Taani.

"Kitna chupaogi Taani. Ek na ek din toh sach saamne aa hi jayega" said Sharon after she left.

"Sharon tum kya bol rahi ho?" asked Rey.

"Offo Swayam tum bhool gaye? Voh din meine tumhe kaha tha na ki Rey ko mat batao that Taani knows about Tina, vo isiliye kyunki mujhe lagta hai ki yeh dono ek dusre ke friends se kuch jyada hai. And if Rey finds out that we told her about Tina, fir toh tumhe pata hi hai voh humse kitna naraz ho jayega" said Sharon.

"Tumne Taani ko sab bata diya!" shouted Rey.

"Swayam hum dono the waha.." said Sharon but Rey cut her mid-sentence.

"I'm Rey!" he exclaimed.

Sharon realized that Rey had disguised himself as Swayam.

"Rey..vo actually" Sharon tried explaining.

"Tumne kyun bataya? You know I don't like anyone knowing about Tina" said Rey.

"Rey, I'm sorry. It's just ki Taani is close to you and even you can't deny that you have some feelings for her" said Sharon.

"Tumhe aisa kyun lagta hai?" asked Rey.

"I can read your eyes Rey aur unmein Taani ke liye care dikhta hai" said Sharon.

"Yeh sach hai ki I care for Taani. But hum kabhi saath nahi ho sakte" said Rey.

"Kyun?" she asked.

"Sharon she is very sweet and I don't want to spoil her life" he said.

"Tum uski life kaise spoil karoge. Rey kuch bhi mat bolo" she said.

"Taani ka life partner koi prince hoga not a flirt like me" he said and left.

'Rey tum kyun nahi samajhte ki Taani jaisa ladka chahati hai tum bilkul vaise ho. I think mujhe Taani se baat kar leni chahiye' thinks Sharon and leaves in search of Taani.

Taani is in the fire exit thinking about whatever happened.

'Aur kai baar toh ek dusre mein itna kho jaate ho ki baaki kuch exist hi nahi karta' Sharons words were ringing in her mind.

"Toh tum yaha ho" Sharon entered.

"Bas aa rahi thi" said Taani.

"Taani baitho yahi. Mujhe ek baat batao, tumne jhut kyun bola" asked Sharon.

"Jhut?" asked Taani as though she didn't understand anything.

"You like him right?" asked Sharon.

"Pata nahi Sharon" finally Taani opened up, "Jab bhi mein Rey ke saath hoti hun humesha khush rehti hun. Kisi bhi baat ka koi darr nahi rehta. As I know ki Rey will be there for me, but as a friend. Mein Rey ki friend ke alava aur kuch nahi ban sakti" said Taani.

"Aisa nahi hai Taani" Sharon tried to explain.

"Aisa hi hai. Rey abhi tak Tina se pyaar karta hai. And he is finding a girl who islike Tina. Aur koi bhi ladki Tina ban nahi sakti. Mein bhi nahi" said Taani.

"Mein jaanti hun ki tum Tina nahi ban sakti, but tum Rey ki.." said Sharon but Taani cut her.

"No Sharon! This is not possible. Aur please tum yeh sab karna band karo. Rey ko bilkul atcha nahi lagega" said Taani.

"Rey ke liye care karti ho but uske saath rehna nahi hai. Why Taani?" asked Sharon.

"Why ka jawab nahi hai mere paas!" she said and left.

When Swayam arrived in college Sharon narrated whatever happened. He was at first shocked but then happy to find out that Rey and Taani both had some feelings for each other, but none wanted to accept. They decided to help Rey and Taani realize each other's feelings and then take decision of being together or not.
