PART 5

All these months here she was never involved with such an out of box thing and here she was walking into the dead already and that too because she had insisted to learn from the best and was about to witness him at his worst.

Her brain reminded her curtly and she hugged the jacket close around her hoping that the feel of fabric would give her the needed courage to face this guy who had God knows what intentions at this very hour of the evening.

She wished to have a clone code of this guy named Raghav but with FUNCTIONS of her choice like it was possible.

Contemplating her meager choice availability, she purposely slowed down when she saw the guards wandering around the gates.

“Perhaps they were planning to close the doors.” a relieved sigh left her breath. “ but what if he needed someone to be with him, what if it was not intentional in the evening, what if he was misunderstood.” in the very next moment the heart came with the set of questions meant to trouble her conscience.

“is it the normal pace, well I remember it was much faster the first time you came behind me.” she nearly jumped with his voice,

Raghav had chosen to stand in the dark so when he walked towards her she took deep breaths silencing any kind of chaos that started hitting her full force the moment he crossed her space.

His clothes were the same from the evening with the small difference of his first two buttons undone and the usually well-tamed dark hairs creating a mess on his head. Other than that she could not make any difference in his demeanor and the most important -the sarcasm in his tone was already there waiting for her.

“ did you walk here to comment on my walking pace…” she gave him back. It was as if the evening incident never existed and they were back to the rapport they shared over the last few weeks.

“No…I came to release my bladders here.” his blunt retort made her uncomfortable and that’s when she noticed a faint smell.

“Are you drunk?” sniffing the air around them she asked him. The smell was no doubt the alcohol and she looked here and there to make sure there was no one to witness them and most importantly at this hour of time.

“not something I cant handle.” the arrogant answer was not something Pallavi was ready to handle.

“Oh… well we certainly are not the kind of friends you crash after one such evening, call your guys, and please leave from here,” she told him before turning to leave.

“Does your father always poke his long nose in others matter or it was some latest software update, this evening?” his stern voice stopped her and it was confirmed he had come here to talk about the matter.

“Are you always this reckless in public or it was some kind of Built-in error I was not aware of..? she asked over her shoulders.

“let us call it a Runtime error…we did discuss that in the beginning, Coding.com.” his voice was softer this time and she turned back surprised at the change and witnessed a small smile on his lips, his eyes seemed to fix somewhere else.

Perhaps The alcohol was starting to wane him otherwise this was not the kind of response she was expecting.

“Are you leaving or should I call the guards?” she asked him tilting to her right to have his attention.

“i had some issues with the other man, your father came in between us unnecessarily.” in his mind the words got completed but in reality, he was cut mid-way.

“do you get involved in such kinds of fights every day?” she crossed him without giving him a chance to complete his words and this irked him and more than that the challenge in her eyes did it for him.

“i came here because …I don’t know what the hell I was thinking before moving towards your castle.” he could not tell her the exact reason that made his mind to meet her. “but I am happy you fit in the typical category of girl; won't listen to a word when it is about your family… there is nothing I should be clearing to you or anyone. You might be knowing your father well.” with that he crushed the small water bottle he had in his hand and walked away.

She stared at his retreating back for a while, he seemed ignorant of the vehicles passing by and her breath got hitched for a moment when a car moved dangerously close to him. She was not sure how he was so sure about riding a bike or whatever vehicle he had come within such a state.

She did a little prayer for him to reach his place safely.

“your marks will be displayed by Wednesday on the notice board and I am impressed everyone has submitted their presentations without asking for another timeline…I wonder the reason.” Miss Chatterjee wiggled her one brow in the familiar style.

“We don’t want to keep tapping our fingers during the fest that's why.” Apoorva snorted beside Pallavi.

“shut up Poorva, I am nervous as hell about the Viva, can't even laugh.” Pallavi hit her elbow in the middle of trying to memorize the oop theory.

“by the way, Raghav is not here, did something happen last night?” Poorva’s next question was in cue.

“what can happen between us?” Pallavi eyed her and whispered in sharp words.

“i don’t know …maybe the influence of some deep talks with you last night?” Poorva was not coming slow.

“don't you seem a little too much interested in him today,” Pallavi whispered not looking towards her.

“Girls, you got some problem… Yes, the white top?” Ms. Chatterjee confirmed when Apoorva smiled uneasily.

“so if you all are ready let's start, who wants to come first?” Ms. Chatterjee took the seat in front of them with her dark eyes narrowing on them for a moment.

“if that's fine, I want to go first Maam…” no one paid much heed as it was not unusual for Raghav to go first for such exams but somewhere the chaos inside Pallavi’s heart stopped seeing he was fine and with the looks, it seemed he had taken a shower just a few minutes back.

The nicely done hairs seemed dripping water any moment and Pallavi braced herself to hear Poorva’s lame hearty comments on how good he looked at that moment.

“Pallu…

“not now Apoorva … you’ll get enough time after the exams.” Pallavi shut her down just when she opened her mouth.

“Alright let's go ahead with you Raghav. Arvind! send the next as they like or the list of students is kept there send according to their roll numbers” after instructing the lab staff, Miss Chatterjee walked to the lab with Raghav walking beside her, they had already started discussing something.

“i am telling you Pallavi, Miss Chatterjee is head over heels in love with this guy…” Poorva’s voice after them and when Pallavi narrowed her eyes Apoorva realized her mistake.

“I mean she adores him a lot as if he is her own son.” Poorva corrected the words and opened her notebook.

“when you are a genius, teachers love you like that.” Pallavi silenced her and tried to focus on the concepts in front of her.

She knew she was not going to fly with colorful marks in the practicals but at least she could do better with the theory part in the viva.

In the next two hours, they were done with the exam and she was collecting her stuff to leave the class when she spotted Raghav making way to the class busy with some kind of papers in his hand.

She knew for the next ten days they were going to be busy in the fest so there was no chance they were going to have her classes, about later she would definitely have some way to deal with the issue so she thought to leave without coming in front of him.

“Pallavi…” his voice stopped him and Apoorva nudged her when she didn’t stop.

“hmm..did you call?” trying to ease away the nervousness she lied knowing very well he knew she heard him.

“How did it go?” he asked and Pallavi saw her roomie making a way out of the class leaving her with him.

“It was good.” hoping he meant the exams she replied trying to focus on the last of the students in the room.

“Are you participating?” by now he has taken the support of the teacher’s table and crossed his legs in front of him.

“sorry…” she didn’t get what he was asking about.

“i meant the fest!”

“I don’t know…” she replied not understanding how he was normal after the previous day’s incident. She expected him to not talk with her but then they were no high school kids. she has heard guys not making a fuss about such fights.

“then let's continue the classes from tomorrow,” he said nonchalantly and started moving out of the class.

“Raghav…” she got speechless for a moment, and it took her a moment to realize he was waiting for her.

“umm…nothing…I thought.” she hesitated and then looked at his face…though he seemed cleaned, she could see the tired eyes and some kind of worry which didn’t seem when he went for the exams.

“What happened was between your father and me…anyway I don’t share a good rapport with sanki …” he stopped for a moment and looked at her face where emotions changed from No emotion at all to a surprised one.

“I mean elders don’t mingle with me at all,” he said and there was no hiding in that burnt smile on his face.

“so …see you tomorrow,” he said and walked away leaving her thinking was there someone else inside him who craved some kind of validation from people.

College romance is fun with the way you can introduce things and so many different moments. With Raghav's troubled past I hope we are going to enjoy them here...

I hope you liked the chapter, see you soon with the next chapter and some fun.
