Chapter 7
CHAPTER 6
"you do understand why we need the graphs and why Networking is important for a coder..." he looked over his shoulder towards her system and mouthed a curse.
His student was still running the different queries he had sent her last night.
"Pallavi..." he called her to gain her attention.
"hmm...five more minutes, this one is last..." she answered without looking at him.
"didn't I say today we were doing the networks...
"just one minute Raghav... I am almost done...
"Fast... "she would never listen to what he said.
Two weeks had passed since that evening and the scene was forgotten or they had chosen to ignore it and the tuitions kept going like before. She was progressing well and doing more than better.
For the last two days, it had become hectic for him, with his prototype almost complete he was answering the tech enthusiasts cum sponsors about it and then he was also working with a few like-minded guys from the college about some hydropower project to showcase in the ongoing Festival where he had to write the codes for the model.
A lot of students waited for this fest cause the investors came for the search of innovation in the science models represented by the college.
So he was working tirelessly to work on both the things for them to complete on time and he was expected to join another techie in some forty minutes for his own project.
"I'm done... and I know the theory part about networking..." she turned with her chair and faced him.
"Alright? Define Array, linked list... what should be an ideal choice for graphs? FAST!" He threw the questions before making a noiseless move towards her table.
"why such a sophistication, you can easily skip all these and it would be done in much fewer steps...here." his fingers acted like the current they were with keys and she was staring at a much smaller code than the one she had typed.
"How did it happen, I swear I went by your words... "Think about the simplest possible way".
"that's okay you would get there with practice and definitions now." he came back to the viva mode as he scribbled a few notes on her notebook.

"so is it a database like MariaDB, Venice...I mean aren't Databases a network of directories," she asked him as they walked towards the exit.
"Yes, they are but what I am creating is a model, the company who buys it would be capable enough to link the other directories for this databases to work."
"But how would you know what company is going to buy it from you, I mean an information giant can buy it and they would need to store their client's DOB, location, hobbies or a medical company can buy it and the database would be used to collect all the medical data like the efficiency of lungs, the weight of liver like ...
"color of eyes." he helped her with her list of guesses.
"Yeah," and they laughed at that.
"so how would your programs change to help the company," she asked him.
"before selling it I would work on it to change the features according to their needs," he replied ever so calmly that the answer seemed the easiest thing and she felt ashamed.
"oh Yes..." she sighed.
"No, you had a reasonable question... All I have is a prototype, the final thing would store data for the company to work efficiently, but if the company wants they can keep it in the public domain for the commons and researchers to take help."
"Wow, here you are ... already working on something and when I think about the placements happening in our final year I am sure not a single one of them would choose me.
"who knows till then you might have locked your destiny where you want to be, where you are best suited."
He was at ease while discussing these things and there was no hint of the unreasonable man she had witnessed back then, this was the guy she had decided to approach a few weeks back... A SHEER GENIUS BRAIN.
"if it makes you feel good I am not good with making project files.." he said and she witnessed the rare smile on his lips with the hint of a tease.
"No no...I am fine and as you say I might discover my best skills pretty soon." she too smiled before concentrating on his words.
" you might have your reasons Raghav but it doesn't deny the fact what a genius you are." she thought as she stared at his face after a while.

"and here you are, do you even remember what did we decide this morning?" of course Poorva had every right to shout on her and Pallavi braced herself for the storm.
She had to go to the local markets with Poorva and together they were going to decide her dress for the performance but nowadays she felt she forgot the track of time when she was with Raghav...in the labs or in the library, he didn't talk a lot as usual but there was something that was changing between them or perhaps she was trying to make out something on her own.
So she kept working on the things she didn't need to study and every night worked on a list of things she would discuss with him the next day, not only the programs, now she discussed other topics as well, and though he seemed unfazed she often made attempts to guess he was not disturbed or his own work didn't suffer.
But the one hour they had agreed often ended up in 40 or 45 minutes and her attempts to spend time with him kept crashing until today when he seemed in a good mood, she didn't ask him the reason but today he was working on his laptop and his only attention was on her neatly curated problems.
"Are you even here or should I make the arrangements to throw your luggage in the world you are living in currently." Poorva's words pulled her out of her thoughts and she looked here and there before coming to her senses.
"Yeah yeah...give me a few minutes I'll do something...don't worry." Pallavi tried to calm her roommate down who seemed to break her skull with the daggers she was throwing in her sharp stares.
"do you know what time it is ...FYI it's about to turn 7:30, even if we go by now all the shops would be closing and let's say there are some generous shoppers waiting for us," the taunt was so visible in Poorva's words. "they might not be having all that we need."
"don't worry, we'll arrange something... believe me, your dress would be ready by the time you leave for the performance." Pallavi's words had a promise she generally refrained from saying but completed every time.
"now wash your face and come with me," she called her before opening her side of the cupboard to get a fresh pair of jeans and a top for the shopping.

He knew the tech world often offered the young brains, opportunities one could only imagine but for the sake of his mother, he wanted to complete the degree and then only think about the other steps.
But the words were still making rounds in his brain...
"We love the idea behind this Database, with us you will be able to reach the heights you have not even thought about Young man." one of the top MNCs in the world wanted him to join them but he still has not decided what he actually wanted, of course, he was going to work somewhere but this was just a prototype and he still needed to learn a lot of things.
As a middle-class guy, he knew his mother would hyperventilate if she heard he was going to drop the college and after all the things the two of them had seen, faced he was not going to do it.
The moment his past covered his thoughts, he knew what he should do and next he typed the quick reply to the official mail address and hit SEND.
His prototypes and ideas needed him to mature as well and have his plan Bs ready if things didn't work well.
Sipping the last of the contents of his cup, he closed his laptop and walked outside.
"I still have my laptop and a few other things, I can't come." he nearly cursed Farhad and Harish who wanted to join him in a bizarre market where they could not get the props he had told them to arrange for the project the two were working on with Raghav's help.
"Anna, we can wait all night if you say but believe me we don't know a lot of things." Farhad's nervous voice reached him and behind him, Raghav could hear Harish arguing with the shopper about something.
"To hell with you two." Raghav could not help swearing at the two morons. "send me the address."
"thank you Anna." he heard Frhad 's cheerful voice before he grabbed his things and twirled the keys on his index.

he thought he would suffocate if he walked any further, it would have been a good idea if he had left the phone and wallet back home. He cursed again at the guys who were going to get sacked if he lost his phone or wallet here.
But where were the two and why on earth their phone was not getting picked? Raghav kept walking looking at the rows of shops along the road. he was amazed how this brightly lit area in the main city was full of women of nearly all age groups at even this time of evening.
The way shoppers were trying to woe women with dramatically changing prices and women were showing full-on attitude till they find their ideal price was something that amused him.
The scowl on his face started dissolving and as the cool evening made way to the road and overhead kandils fluttered he found himself smiling until he spotted something his grandfather had brought for him and his ... brother.
" a Kendama, the wooden toy his grandfather believed would help them with their reflexes and coordination, which he had brought back from a trip to Tibet"
He walked to the shop and picked one and then as if a reflex became active he started throwing the ball in the air and then catching skillfully in the cup mounted in different directions of the wooden toy.
"You know the trick," the middle-aged man trying to wind up the business for the day asked him still busy picking a box full of other wooden toys.
"I was not the best," he whispered keeping away the toy and starting to leave the shop when the shopkeeper called him.
"you can always become the best...you just need one of these and ..."
Without waiting for the man to complete his words Raghav stopped and said. " I am not interested in that shit..."
Suddenly his mood has soured and he needed to distract himself from the memories so he left the place in haste without paying heed to someone's voice who was calling him for quite some time and had watched the incident in its final moments.
