Part 22

 "What the hell.. tu yahan kaise..?" Atul asked in an extremely surprised tone seeing his BEST FRIEND standing there.. As the Malliks went to hug her, D-Gang also joined in.. while Gupta's nd Bua were looking at the girl dressed in a black dress looking sweet nd had a lots of attitude nd accent too..

 "Now will you tell me that who told you that we're here.." Mr.Mallik asked

"Well well.. I'm Nikita Mallik.. I was keeping an eye on you guys.. how dare you guys leave me alone nd having a holiday here.. but my boyfriend told me nd yeah AJ gave me all the details too.." Then it struck Atul that he had a chat with her a day before nd told her about them being here..

Yes the girl is none another than Nikki..

[Nikki Mallik: Jai Mallik's youngest child.. means Armaan is eldest nd Rahul is second one.. Armaan nd Ridhhima call her kiddo.. Arav calls her Girlfriend nd the rest either Nikki or Niks.. Atul's Bestest friend.. She is very modern nd strong headed yet soft at heart.. she is friendly with the people she thinks worthy of nd loves her family to bits.. She is in Love with Abhimanyu Modi but noone except Ridhhima knows about it.. She looks upto Ridhhima like her mother.. she shares each nd every secret with her.. nd even Ridhhima treats her like a small kid..]

"But why are you here in the middle of your exams.." Rahul asked..

"Mr.Superstar.. my exams were preponed a month that's why I wasn't home for your wedding now can I hug my Family like a family I've met after 5 months if your queries are over.. althougth I've become an advocate but you guys are acting like one.. enquiring about everything.." She said to Rahul.. she came forward nd hugged him.. then Muskaan.. "Hey Muski.. Ooppss.. I mean bhabhi.."

Then she hugged Ridhhima "How are you Niks..?" "M good.. missed ur food bhabhi.. nd my boyfriend the most.."  she said pouting.."Aww.. don't worry kiddo from now on you'll be the one deciding the menu..okk.." Ridhhima said patting her.. "Ohh.. nd what about me kiddo.." Armaan said opening his arms for a hug.. "Missed you too bro.. Hmm.. someones looking handsome.." she said while he teased "Hmm.. someones looking fat.."

"Bro.. I've not gained even a single gram.. dare you say that.. I'll convince Ridhhima bhabhi nd Arav to sleep in my room for a month.." she said teasing only to get a threatening from her dad whom she was going to hug.. "Nikki-Ammy.. aate hi ladai.. tum dono ko ab bhi chain nahi ayaa.. (then hugging her) missed you baby.."  "Aww.. I missed you too dad.. how's ur health keeping..?.." she asked unhugging him to which he chuckled saying "Ohh.. comeon.. stop treating me like an old man.. fit nd fine coz of bhabhi who threatens me if I skip even a single dose.." Mr.Mallik said aping afew of Ridhhima's lines.. nd laughed..

"Not fair Dad.. stop complaining about bhabhi.. shes the only one who has kept all you guys on track.. nd I must confess my dad is looking even more handsome nd dashing than these two hunks here.." She said pointing to Rahul nd Armaan.. as Mr.Mallik nd Nikki giggled in union Nikki's eyes fell on Guptas.. she came forward nd greeted them formally.. "Hi.. I'm Nikita Jai Mallik.. Mr.Jai Mallik's daughter nd a would be legal advisor to him once my results for my Law School are out.. you can call me Nikki, niks or whatever you want to.."

when Mr.Mallik introduced her to nikki.. "Nikki.. he is Dr. Shashank Gupta, dean of Sanjeevni mumbai.. that's his wife, Padma ji nd his daughter Dr.Anjali.."

this introduction froze her.. she just looked at Ridhhima nd said "You never told me things got back to normal.." Ridhhima immideately nodded her head in NO nd indicated her to stop.. Shashank immideately read their expression nd concluded that Nikki knew everything about Guptas..

"Well.. hello Dr.Gupta.. hello aunty.. hi Ms. Gupta.." she said as if just acknowledging them nd then again turned to others..

before she could say anything Ridhhima introduced her to bua "Nikki yeh meri bua hain.. Lonavla vali.. remember.." Nikki smiled nd greeted her warmly nd then as if something struck her "OMG..! yeh vahi orphanage hai jahan pehli baar akar Bro pedh pe chad gaya thha coz he had stolen dog biscuits.. nd you're the same bua jinhe Bro aur Bhabhi ke pyar ke baare mein unse bhi pehle pata lag gaya thha.." she said in an excited tone nd as Ridhhima giggled nd nodded Nikki took bua in a hug too saying "Its so good to meet you.. Bhabhi kitna batati thhi apke aur yahan ke bachon ke baare mein.. nd especially those Rabbits here.."  

"Girlflend.. vo Labbits ab mele flend hai.. chalo main milata hoon.." Arav quickly jumped in the convo nd took Nikki to the rabbit cage leaving others smiling nd chuckling..

It was an hour after Nikki's Arrival.. the gang was filling Anjie with Nikki's info.. nd Jai Mallik was talking to bua nd Guptas.. Arav nd Nikki were still with Arav's labbits..

"Mr.Mallik aapne kabhi bataya nahi aapki beti bhi hai.." Shashank said "Ji bas kabhi mauka hi nahi hua.. hum hamesha business ki baatein karte thhe to iss baat ka zikr ayaa hi nahi.. vaise Nikki University of California se Law kar rahi thhi.. ab Armaan aur Rahul to business mein aane se rahe to maine Nikki ko Law karne ke liye encourage kiya.. itne saalon mein Ridhhima aur Muskaan ko bhi mere kaam ki achhi knowledge ho gayi hai.. aur aage chal kar mera kaam mere bete aur betiyaan milkar samhaal lein isse badi kya baat hogi mere liye.. "

"Sahi keh rahe hain aap Mr.Mallik.. bachhe settle ho jayein isse badi kya baat hoti hai ma-baap ke liye.. " Shashank said to which Jai Mallik smiled nd said "Aur vaise bhi mujhe Nikki ki koi chinta nahi.. Armaan aur Ridhhima ne usse bilkul Arav ki tarah pyar kiya hai.. Galti par samjhate hai aur bohot bigaad rakha hai.. Ridhhima ne to jaise Nikki ko NA karna sikha hi nahi.. aur Nikki saare waqt uske saath baat karti thhi jab bhi ghar aati thi.. "

 

As everyone was chatting Arav nd Nikki came back laughing together.. Arav was telling Nikki about the rain moment he had yesterday.. as they came in Nikki settled herself on the ground next ro Ridhhima's legs keeping her head in her lap.. "Yahan baarish bhi hoti hai.. How I wish I would've come earlier.. I missed your birthday.. nd so much fun here too.." she said whining to Ridhhima.. Ridhhima smiled nd kissed her forehead nd got up to go somewhere..

Within a few minutes she came back from the kitchen with semi hot oil in a dish nd sat behind Nikki.. as she started massaging Nikki asked "How come did you know my head was paining.." Ridhhima smiled nd said "kyunki main tumhe bohot waqt se jaanti hoon.. you'were just now massaging ur temples right.. nd madam being a doctor I can easily make out that the whether has effected you.. you're not used to the whether here na.. that's why you're having a headache.. ab chup chap baitho nd let me massage.."  Nikki gave her baby smile nd sat like a good girl till Ridhhima finished..

While Padma nd Shashank were observing their daughter who has turned into a perfect daughter-in-law.. getting so much of love nd respect from everyone around.. Padma felt proud while Shashank smirked at this..

The day was going gr8.. Nikki got really close with all the kids there.. they played loads of games nd had fun.. Kids were really happy playing with Nikki Di.. She told them a lot of short stories made them watch movies she had.. nd because she was a kid at heart, she had everything a kid would love to have around.. It was lunch time.. the kids were off for their mid day sleep or for their homework after the lunch nd now all the elders were on the table.. Ridhhima nd Muskaan came out with the food.. it had all Nikki's favourite.. Nikki was so happy looking at the food.. Ridhhima served her first while muskaan was serving others..

"Wah wah.. kya luxury treatment milta hai itne din baad family se milne par.." Armaan said pouting coz none of the dishes were his favourites.. "Exactly bhai.." Rahul said in union..

"I think I can smell something burning.. what do you say bhabhi.." Nikki said naughtily to Ridhhima "Leave them Kiddo.. you know these two when they get melodramatic.. you have your food.." Ridhhima said..

 

All the while Nikki had been conversing with everyone except for Guptas.. something in her was holding her back from getting friendly with Anjali.. nd Anjali was sensing this discomfort purely.. Padma saw Bua feeding Arav with her hands nd Arav used to kiss her after every bite.. she felt herself missing that Affection.. to hold Arav nd make him eat..

The lunch was taken in a joyous mood.. Shashank's mind was turning even more against Armaan when he saw Ridhhima so close to Nikki nd Arav being left to play with Bua so happily while whenever Arav come to them someone or the other was keeping the distance.. he was getting furious.. but still kept it inside..

 Atul-Anjali

Atul knew Anjali must have called him to talk about Nikki.. Whenever they guys were seated together Nikki would talk to Atul really closely.. nd this closeness was disturbing Anjali.. All her doubts mounted when during some discussion by mistake Atul declared that Nikki was his first girlfriend he had.. nd their relationship was the longest he has had till now..

"Anjali.. I know tumhe kya baat karni hai.." Atul said breaking the silence..

"See Atul.. I'm just abit uncomfortable with the way Nikki acknowledges my presence.. I mean she is warm nd friendly with everyone around then why not me.. does this has anything to do with she being your Ex-Girlfriend nd I'm at present.." She asked it directly..

Her open attitude somewhat made Atul angry but then he understood her insecurities too.. he just tried to explain to her in a calm manner.. "Aisa nahi hai Anjie.. She doesn't even know about us dating.. I know we were in a relationship long time back but that was when I was in junior college.. we're best of friends now.. I think she is acting indifferent coz she knows all about your family nd Ridhhima-Armaan's relation.. Ridhhima nd Nikki confide in eachother like anything.. Ridhhima even knows Nikki's dark secrets which even I, her best friend doesn't know.. Nikki cares a lot for Ridhhima nd that's the only reason I see.."

"But Ridz is normal with us now.. then what is it with Nikki.." Anjie said in an irritated tone.. "maine usse baat ki thhi when I first noticed her ignorant look.. but she is really childish nd stubborn at times.. you know youngest nd pampered sort.. vo bilkul Arav ki tarah hai.. She only trusts either Armaan or Ridhhima blindly.. but others have to prove their point to her first.." Atul said justifying his friend..

Atul's words left Anjie in another confusion.. Why is Ridhhima not breaking that ice between her nd Nikki like she did with Bua.?.. Is Ridhhima really adamant on distancing herself nd Arav from them after her last conversation with Shashank.. Anjie realised the bond between Ridhhima nd Nikki was strong indeed coz all day long Ridhhima, Nikki nd Arav were sitting together nd chatting or having fun.. If Arav goes to Armaan or someone else then Ridhhima would give her full attention to Nikki nd listen to her.. she somehow was feeling jealous of the fact that someone else was closer to her sister..

Anjali decided to talk to Padma nd Shashank about this.. NO not about Atul but about Ridhhima.. her convincing conversation made Padma's heart sink on the realisation that she was losing her daughter nd grandson yet again.. while Shashank got angry nd cursed Armaan for all this..

Ridhhima nd Nikki sitting under a tree nd talking..
"Please na bhabhi.. sirf aap hi Bro aur Dad se baat karke unhe convince kar sakti ho.. please na.. please bhabhi for my happiness.." Nikki said whimpering..

"Kiddo.. main kya baat karu papa se aur tumhare bhaiya se jab tak main hi convinced nahi hoon.. I need to be confident na ke jo main keh rahi hoon it should be good enough for their consideration.." Ridhhima said in a calmer tone..

"But bhahi I know him for 5 yrs now.. he is a nice man.. nd I want to get married to him.."Nikki said putting her head in ridhhima's lap..

"I know baby.. You Love him.. nd I believe you that he is a good man.. but how will I convince papa nd your brothers.. mujhe uske baare mein kuch batao.. ask him to meet me.. coz jab tak main sure nahi hoon I won't talk to anyone.." Ridhhima said brushing her hair nd making her understand..

"nd what if you don't like him.. you'll not help then..?.."Nikki asked innocently.. Ridhhima smiled at the childish question nd kissed her forehead saying "Have I ever left you alone..?.. have confidence in your love kiddo.. I know your love will convince me.. If you're sure about your Love nd the person you love then everyone will believe you I promise.. okk" Ridhhima said in a loving voice..

"Then why can't you talk to dad now.." Ridhhima giggled lightly at the question.. she sighed nd tried explaining the other way.. "Okk kiddo.. listen.. jab Arav bohot ice creams khata hai to hum usse rokte kyun hain.." Nikki replied in a confused tone yet smiling "so thay he doesn't fall sick.."  "Right.. that means although he is Happy having those ice creams.. still we stop him thinking of his safety nd good health right..?" Nikki nodded nd ridhhima continued "The same case goes here.. I know you're happy with him but still I need to be sure of your safe nd good future na.. isiliye I can't talk to papa right now.. but pakka once I'm convinced I'll surely help you.."

As Ridhhima finished Nikki looked at her with teary eyes.. nd said "Thanx bhabhi.. aapse baat karti hoon na to Mom ki kami mehsoos nahi hoti.. pata hai vo bhi humesha mere liye dad aur bro ko convince karti thhi.. lekin tab main bohot choti thhi unhe thankyou kehne ke liye.."

"Hey Kiddo.. you're a big girl now.. stop crying.. I Love you baby.. nd why do you have to miss Mom when you have all of us here for you.." Nikki gave her a smile.. "That's like my baby.. keep smiling.. as your brother says khubsoorat ladkiyaan rote hue nahi gusse mein acchi lagti hain.." Ridhhima said wiping her tears..

"Wow.. Bro never leaves a chance to romance.. my my someones bushing.." Nikki teased..

Unknown to them Padma nd Shashank were listening to this conversation.. Shashank smirked nd said "jab maine Ridhhima ki safety aur future ke baare mein socha to vo mujhe galat keh rahi thhi.. lekin ab jab kisi apne ki baat aayi to vo bhi yahi kar rahi hai na.." his tone was angry.. Padma could sense it..

But before she could say anything Ridhhima said with slight tears in her eyes.. "How I wish kiddo.. mere aur Armaan ke baare mein bhi meri family mein koi baat karne vala hota.. koi aisa jise mere pyaar par bharosa ho.. jo Armaan ko judge nahi karta balki test karta.. agar Dr.Gupta itne impulsive nahi hote to shayad meri family bhi mere paas hoti.. but you don't worry I'll never let you face anything of that sort.." as they were talking Arav came running to them saying "Mamma main girlflend ke paash ninni.." Ridhhima nd Nikki wiped their tears nd smiled at him "Hmm.. aaj mamma bhi humare saath soyengi boyfriend.. kyunki mujhe abhi bohot baatein karni hain unse.. aur phir aapko story bhi to sunani hai.." Nikki said to Arav who seemed to like the idea.. "Hmm.. kaunsi story Kiddo.. Apne Prince Charming ki.." Ridhhima teased as she knew Nikki wants to fill her with Abhi's info as soon as possible while Nikki blushed..

Padma nd Shashank were listening to this whole conversation.. Padma cried when Ridhhima nd Nikki left while Shashank just got furious at Ridhhima's reply.. "Agar vo nahi chahti to theek hai.. hum bhi bhula denge usse.. aaj ke baad kabhi nahi dekhunga uski taraf.. rahe khush apne parivaar ke saath.." Shashank said in anger nd left for his cottage.. while Padma was stuck in between her daughter nd husband..

Its been two days They were all back to Mumbai now.. As usual running here nd there for their work nd stuff.. Mr.Mallik has asked Nikki to join in from this deal itself but she refused saying she needs rest till her results..

A few days later Atul decided to spill the beans in front of Mr.Mallik.. he was waiting for a day when Mr.Mallik is relaxed nd in a good mood.. nd when Ridhhima signalled him he was ready for it.. he adjusted his shirt nd prayed to God before stepping into his room.. finally gathering the courage he went nd sat besides Jai Mallik who was reading his newspaper.. "Umm.. good morning uncle.." Atul said in nervous tone.. Mr.Mallik had sensed that he was here for something BIG.. "Good morning beta.." Mr.Mallik said keeping a straight face nd not giving any hints of curiousity.. "Umm.. uncle vo.. aapse kuch.." Atul was cut in between "Haan haan beta main sun raha hoon.."

Atul gulped nd continued "Uncle aapko to pata hai ki bachpan se aap log hi meri family hain.. maine humesha aap mein aur Tara aunty mein hi apne mom-dad ko dekha hai.." Mr.Mallik now looked at him at the mention of Tara, his late wife.. he was looking at Atul intensely coz he knewAtul ought to be very serious when he had metioned Tara..

"Uncle main ek ladki se bohot pyaar karta hoon.. kya aap meri taraf se uski family se baat karenge please.." Atul finally mutered leaving Mr.Mallik smiling nd not shocked.. he already had an idea when Peer Baba had told him about the troubles.. nd knowing Atul very well, his Pale face said it all.. "Main wait kar raha thha ki tum khud aakar mujhse yeh kaho.. lekin mujhe uss ladki ke baare mein bhi to kuch batao.. kaun hai.. kahan rehti hai.." Mr.Mallik said in a friendly tone..

"Matlab aap baat karenge uski family se..? " Atul said in an excited tone.. "Ofcourse.. maine tumhe kabhi Ammy ya Rahul se alag samjha hai kya.. ab batao bhi varna mujhe apna irada badalna padega.." Mr.Mallik teased to which Atul instantly blurted "ANJALI.. Umm.. Dr. Anjali Shashank Gupta.." he was really mortified looking at Jai Mallik's blank face.. "Kya.. kya hua.. uncle.. aap.. aapko anjali pasand nahi.." Atul asked in a anxious tone.. Mr.Mallik still didn't say anything nd got up.. he went out of the room while Atul was thinking that he was against his marrige..
