At a certain point of time, supernatural tracks were a major hit in India. Shows like Naagin and Sasural Simar Ka were getting the highest TRP's. That's when a lot of shows decided to experiment with the supernatural genre.
After the tremendous success of Naagin, Zee TV rolled out their show Vishkanya. Featuring Aishwarya Khare and Vin Rana, this show created quite a buzz. With its one of a kind story and concept, the show managed to fetch decent TRP's over time.
Although the makers wanted it to be a longer show, the limited amount of viewers made them wrap up the show pretty soon. After successfully running for a period of over six months, the team completes their final shot and called it a wrap!

The show could have lasted a lot longer had the CVs not introduced Vardaan into the mix. Making her a positive character and Apu negative ruined everything, and by the time they 'salvaged' it, it was too late. I saw the last few weeks. Vardan's death - if she was gonna be killed, why bring her in in the first place? And making Apu the caretaker of the Mittal's - why would she do that? Saw the final episode, where she manages to destroy the kala saya. After that, she decides to go to the Himalayas, when the Baba demonstrates that she no longer has the venom, and that it's okay for her to remain in Kolkata. Only problem - the flashback scenes that Malay was having, and his claim that he still loved her. But when he had his flashback scenes, he conveniently forgot the entire Vardan chapter - how he had married her, and how she ultimately died. How he didn't have the patience to wait for Apu or give her a fair hearing. How he had snubbed her after she had told him about why she wasn't there for the wedding - thanks to his 5 uncles. And how he treated her in the immediate aftermath of Vardan's death, and how he had refused to believe her re: Leila, b4 Apu burnt the tree and Leila w/ it. In fact, Malay's inconsistent behavior was the main reason this show was a bomb, regardless of even Vardan. Sometimes he'd be very trusting of Apu, then sometimes just Vardan, and so on. There was no telling which side he'd be on. And then there was Apu herself. In the initial phase, she was perfectly happy to support his marriage to Kanika, knowing that being a Vishkanya, she could never make him happy. On the other, once Vardan was married, she had no compunctions about observing Teej for Malay even though he was now married to Vardan. That left a very poor taste in one's mouth about both the leads - Apu, and Malay too for entertaining her. And then her tantrums like burning their pictures. editDate>2016-09-17 13:03:03<......

if they had stick to the original concept it would have gotten decent trp. what they are showing now is what they should have been showing from the begining. the vardan track is what brought the downfall of this show.
