We sit together, talk about our aches and pains, and that’s it, says actress Yashashri Masurkar. This World Health Day, she urges people to go beyond that and start working on their health and well-being.

“Sadly it’s true, we don’t talk about health being a priority enough. And if we do, it’s just a tea-time conversation, full of regrets. We will list the things that we are not doing to take care of ourself. But it hardly goes beyond it. It’s because we take our bodies and mind for granted,” she says.

On the other hand, there are people who follow a strict diet regime and sometimes overdo it without realising that this can harm them too, she says, adding, “That’s bad too…I have heard about so many people dying while doing cardio. They overexert themselves too much. We need to find a balance. Too much of anything is bad too.”

Ask her how she stays healthy, and she says, “I eat healthy, and I make sure to go for a walk and a jog regularly. I also do some specific workouts at home. I don’t push it too much because my body responds quickly to workouts. For me, it’s important to understand my body and set a realistic goal.”

And does ageing scare her? “It does scare me like any other normal person but it’s going to happen, isn’t it? There’s no way I can stop it. So, I feel that I better age gracefully. For that, I need to have a healthy routine, healthy mind…and I am working on it,” she says.
