It has been a phenomenal journey for actor Vicky Kaushal, who started his career as a leading actor with the film Masaan.

It was with his first film only that Kaushal had proven his mettle as a performer and won the hearts of the viewers as well as the critics. Masaan, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan marks 7 years of its release today.

Celebrating the journey, Kaushal took to his social media handle and shared a series of BTS pictures from the sets. One picture showed him with his co-star Shweta Tripathi while one snap had him with the director. Sharing the pictures, Vicky wrote, “7 saal hogaye. Dil se shukriya #massan”

Masaan, which was set in Varanasi, recounted the lives of two people who had endured difficult life circumstances and overcame them. Sanjay Mishra, Pankaj Tripathi, Richa Chaddha and Vineet Kumar all played significant roles in it as well.

The Varun Grover-written movie won two honours for its Un Certain Regard screening at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. It was even screened at the 2019 New York Dalit Film and Cultural Festival.

Even Neeraj and Vicky Kaushal garnered a number of accolades for the film as a debut director and actor respectively.

To be noted, it was years after its release that Masaan got a recognition amongst the general public. A dialogue from the film ‘Saala ye dukh kaahe khatam nahi hote’ became a meme template and became popular amongst the youth.

Talking about Vicky, he has a bunch of films in the pipeline. He will next be seen in Govinda Naam Mera, Sam Bahadur and other films.
