TV actors talk about Independence Day!
On this Independence Day, glorify the past by saluting our heroes who have sacrificed their lives for us. Let's pledge and come together for the progress of our country and celebrate the Day by bowing down in front of our tri-color.

We are free today because of the struggles and sacrifices of our ancestors. They had a vision for a prosperous and independent India; we should honor this vision and work collectively towards making India free in every sense of the term. The day we break all chains of adversity that halt the progress of our country, we will be free.

For the independence of our country and our fellow Indians, men and women have strived together for over 200 years. But even today, women do not enjoy the same freedom as men do. India is free but the women of our country are yet not liberated, and I believe education can help break that narrow-minded thinking that stops us from reaching our full potential.
Freedom for every individual means life. Independence day is a reminder of the greatest gift we have received from our ancestors which they fought so hard to achieve. I can't imagine a life without freedom of speech and being free is the only way to live.
Independence Day isn't about just celebrating a holiday but about appreciating and valuing the sacrifices of all the freedom fighters of India. It also involves respecting every citizen of the country, regardless of their religion, sentiments or gender. Someday, we will live by the idea of live and let live' and come to the aid of fellow Indians, in time of need.
I believe the day we achieve freedom of expression, in the form of equality irrespective of caste, creed, sexuality or gender, we would have achieved freedom in the true sense.
The real freedom lies in the freedom of thought. If every Indian is given the freedom and validation to think in his own way, I feel we will be living a much better life. I still think we have a long way to go till Indians come out of their shells and allow the kind of contemporary liberty which is much needed.
The real power to freedom lies in the hands of the people. Our country has proved its democratic nature in 1947 itself when we overthrew the British. Today, with the politics overruling the democratic nature, I believe it is in the hands of us youth to bring the passion for democracy back.
Studying about the Independence Day in school has made me feel very patriotic about the country. The revolt of 1857 has especially made me put our country up on a pedestal. However, I do feel we have a long way to go in terms of freedom in its true sense.
While our country has made great progress and I can see mindsets changing, I still believe we have a long way to go. We need to learn to forget the British tactics of divide and rule and adopt the true democratic path.
Independence Day for me is reminiscing about the past glory that our freedom fighters have achieved for us. But that's not all - I also believe that we need to keep the spirit up and not let grey aspects bring us down.
Shakti Arora aka Ranveer of Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi says, "Everyone in India knows that India got freedom from the 300 years of British Rule at the stroke of midnight as India moved towards August 15, 1947. Many of us know even the stories of struggle for independence as well. There have been millions of lives that sacrificed for this freedom and many of them are not even known or remembered.
The most important thing is that we remember and pay homage to these legends on this auspicious day. It is important for all Indian to think and pay respect to those who died for the country."
Karan Tacker, contestant of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa says,"As a child I used to actively participate in the plays and drama conducted by my school and college on Independence day. In memory of remembering the plight of the families who lost their close ones in the battle to gain freedom for our country I play my father's classic collection of desh bhakti songs. On the morning of 15th august on loud volume i have 'mere desh ki dharti' and 'aye watan' playing, even my neighbor's enjoy this patriotic twist to my playlist for the I-day!"
Dipika Samson aka Simar of Sasural Simar Ka says,"I love the feeling of patriotism that we all are immersed in on Independence Day. There is this sense of excitement in the air as this day approaches. For me this day is special as my father is from army background and I have heard great stories about Independence from him. It is a time when we all got together and celebrate the moment of freedom. Usually on this day, I start this day attending flag-hoisting ceremony and visiting my friends."
Shakti Mohan, contestant of Jhalak Dikhhlaa Jaa Season 7 says, "This is a big day for India. I feel happy that each one of us celebrates this day with so much pride. Each year in school, I used to participate in the Independence Day parade, those are very fond memories around this occasion. Till today, I am participating in my own special way - with an act dedicated to my country in Jhalak and a special on Comedy Nights With Kapil."
Ashish Sharma aka Rudra of Rangrasiya talks about this day, "More often than not we forget the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the services of the country. This should not only be a day to celebrate the freedom of India, but commemorating the unsung heroes of the country. Our forefathers gave us wings of independence along with roots of responsibility."
Preetika Rao from Beintehaan says, "Our country has come a long day from the day we got independent from the British Raj. Freedom is the cost of ultimate sacrifice, the sacrifice our forefathers made. On this day, I salute not only our freedom fighters, but all those who continue to serve the country relentlessly, be it the army, navy or airforce. Let's all keep the freedom alive!"
Sai Deodhar-Anand from Udann says, "I don't believe in looking back but moving forward. It is about time the world takes notice of us and looks at us to solve problems of economic and technological survival. Just the thought that we have reached so far makes me proud. This should be a happy moment for us that we have brought this country so far and yet so close to what our forefathers had dreamed it to be. It is the birth of a new and empowered India."
