After Ajay Devgn's directorial debut U, Me Aur Hum (2008), he makes a return to direction after almost eight years with his dream project Shivaay, in which he also essays the role of the protagonist. Devgn has invested a fair amount of time and money in this project, as he also happens to be the writer and producer of this magnificent trailer. The movie also stars debutantes Erika Kaar (a renowned Polish actress) and Sayesha Saigal in pivotal roles, along with the renowned comic and actor Vir Das. Talented musician Mithoon has composed the music for this movie, and we at BollyCurry are extremely honored to review the trailer, touted to be Bollywood's longest ever trailer!

This is a rare trailer as it has no dialogues from the movie, just a voiceover, yet conveys enough for the viewer to get curious about the film. Starting off with a magnificent panoramic shot of Devgn climbing ice-capped mountains, one can truly enjoy the beauty of the white snow that becomes the canvas for some parts of the trailer. We see Devgn's character connecting with a happy girl who appears to have some inner struggles. With mysterious glimpses of the two of them enjoying the mountainous terrain, the bond and their connection is definitely intriguing. Amidst all this, we see a romantic subplot developing, which gains our interest. Saigal and Devgn do a good job at setting the romantic mood though they are just transient scenes. With what we see next we realize the story in the mountain is just the beginning.

The next part shifts to a city where we see a chase. The stunts are beautifully choreographed and their peeks leave the audiences wanting to know more. The narration in the background adds to the building suspense. The description of Shiva blends in with the scenes of struggle and fight shown, and the aptly placed soundtrack definitely heightens the overall effect. Mithoon has done a commendable job with this background score, which seems to have enhanced the angsty mood set by the trailer. Even though not much is seen of Kaar in the trailer, what we do see, does impress us. What gets everyone wondering are the scenes of a small girl and an old man which must fit into the story somewhere. What makes the entire thing even more confusing is scenes of Devgn with the same young girl in a friendly paternalistic setting.

One cannot talk about this movie without mentioning the cinematography and production design. The visuals of this film are breathtaking - be it in the snow covered alps or the thrilling chase sequences. A special mention needs to be made for the team behind this feat - Aseem Bajaj and Sabu Cyril. The stunts and action sequences by Jai Singh and Stefan Richter are awe-inspiring; it appears as if nothing of this proportion has ever been seen before in Bollywood!

We are all curious to know how the fragments fit into one plot - the stories amidst the mountains, the chase in the city, and the old man. With the stunning sequences and visuals, we're sure this one's going to be a huge competition to Dharma Productions' Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, also releasing on the same day!

We at BollyCurry rate this trailer 4 out of 5 stars! If you haven't watched the trailer, we, suggest that you visit YouTube or any other popular video streaming site and watch the trailer of the upcoming action thriller. Shivaay is releasing this Diwali on the 28th of October, and we wish Ajay Devgn and his team all the very best!
