A time leap enables the makers to steer the story of a long-running TV show in a new direction. Something similar happened in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (YRKKH), recently. The popular family drama progressed by a year and the cast is excited about the opportunities in the offing. Ashish Nayyar, who plays Anand Vardhan Birla, looks forward to the evolution of his character as the storyline progresses. He says, “It’s exciting. Freshness is always welcome. With a year-long time leap, our lives on the show have also changed just like how it is in real life. The makers have introduced a couple of changes in the storyline. As a result, there is more energy and more freshness in the show.”
Talking about his own character and look, he says, “There is no drastic change in my looks. I am expecting my character to undergo a change gradually. At the moment, he is shown to be grieving the loss of his daughter. His life has become complicated because of this tragic loss, which will be seen in the upcoming episodes.”
Ashish feels fortunate about working with producer Rajan Shahi. He shares, “It’s been a brilliant experience working with Director’s Kut Productions so far. They are extremely hospitable and thorough professionals. They understand the needs of the actors, respect their creative hunger and provide them with a healthy work atmosphere. All of us are dedicated to the show and push ourselves to put our best foot forward in terms of our performance. It’s been a great learning experience watching each other’s diligence and dedication to their craft. For good performance, a stress-free environment on the set and creative liberty along with the vision of the director while shooting are prerequisites. That’s exactly what the team at DKP gives us. I have been appreciated for my performance on the show and I feel blessed to be a part of YRKKH.”

I personally preferred the show before the leap as the reason for the separation was not strong enough. Indian tv needs better scripts. I think tv should end this trp nonsense.
