Tanvi Dogra, who is currently seen essaying the character of Neeti in Colors TV's popular show Parineeti got in an exclusive conversation with India Forums and spilt some beans on the upcoming track of the show. The actress also spoke about playing a negative shade for the first time in her career and addressed the rumours of her relationship with costar Ankur Verma.

The current promo has created much buzz amongst the show's audience. Can you give us insight into the current track?

So, Sanju has been jailed in Rakesh's murder case. Neeti and Pari have been trying their best to get him out and free him from these charges. Because everyone knows that Sanju has not murdered Rakesh and that he is falsely accused. So, on our levels, Pari and I are trying to save him. We are both competing with each other and have 24 hours to prove him innocent.

Your character began with a bubbly, chirpy side to an opposing side; what do you feel about this transition?

I was never told that my character would change shades this way. However, I am thrilled and positive about it now. See, Neeti has many layers to play. And it is not entirely negative. She is very situational. It is just that she is very po about her husband; she is very sure she cannot share him. However, on the other hand, Pari is not like her. Pari is very submissive and sacrificing, but Neeti is not like her. Uska jo haq hai, wo usko chaiye. For Neeti, her best friend and her husband are cheating on her. She does not know that Sanju is Rajeev and that he was married to Pari before marrying her. Neeti is good at heart, uski ladai uske husband ke liye hai. She did not expect her best friend to cheat on her. I am happy that I got this opportunity to show my acting talent.

This is your first ever negative character. How has it been for you? And will you ever take a negative feeling ahead?

Yes, I am open to any roles. But honestly, Neeti will turn negative was not said to me initially. But you know how the modern girl is given a grey shade in TV shows. So it was expected that this twist would happen. The show is based on Kabhi Sautan, Kabhi Saheli. Neeti changes abruptly. Sometimes she becomes a sautan to Pari, and sometimes, she becomes a friend. She often turns a saviour for Pari and gets emotional for her, so she plays Sautan and Saheli.

Did you ever have any apprehensions as an actor that if you once take up a negative character, you will be stereotyped?

No, I do not think so. Today's audience is so intelligent that it does not typecast anyone. There are so many platforms anyway, and I got to portray this shade so that people know I can do both. It is a blessing in disguise, you can say.

The show topped the TRP charts at one point, but now the TRPs have dropped. Do the numbers bother you?

But we are still on number 1-2 on the channel and have been there for quite some time. Honestly, it does not bother me. The show has run for more than one and a half years now, and it is a big deal in today's time because every other show is a love triangle, and you never know which show clicks. So, in that case, We are lucky it is running well.

There have been rumours of your relationship with Ankur. How do you deal with the same, and do these rumours affect you?

It did affect me because kuch hai hi nahi. Agar hota hai, then we try to hide it. I feel very uncomfortable and do not feel perfect about it because we are excellent friends. He and I belong to the northern zone of our country. He is from Gurgaon, and I am from Chandigarh. So we share that bond. Our culture, our slang, our food, we bond on that. We bonded quickly. We both are very pleasant. As a couple onscreen, the writers established Rajeev and Neeti pretty well; we have had some amazing scenes together. So this is why people think aisa kuch hoga. But to be honest, there is no truth to these rumours.

- Tanvi Dogra on relationship rumours with Ankur Verma

Onscreen, you and Aanchal have become rivals now. Tell us about your offscreen bond.

We share a very organic bond. Aanchal is like a younger sister; she has just turned 18 this year and is a brilliant actress. Sometimes, I am left shocked when I see her act or pull off a particular emotion. I always appreciate her for her acting, and she is very pretty as well. She, too, is like me, a very jovial person. The way people say that two actresses cannot get along well, touchwood, we have never had such instances, and I hope we never have these instances. Sometimes people on set ask us if we have become Neeti and Pari.

Parineeti is produced by Ekta Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Telefilms. The show stars Ankur Verma and Aanchal Sahu too along with Tanvi Dogra
