'Sur Kshetra' no less than India-Pakistan cricket match: Reshammiya

Composer-singer Himesh Reshammiya has turned mentor for the Indian contestants on music reality show "Sur Kshetra" and compares the excitement with a cricket match between India and Pakistan.

Composer-singer Himesh Reshammiya has turned mentor for the Indian contestants on music reality show "Sur Kshetra" and compares the excitement with a cricket match between India and Pakistan.

"Sur Kshetra" has two teams - one mentored by Reshammiya, while the Pakistani team has Atif Aslam as its guru. Indian singing legend Asha Bhosle, popular Bangladeshi crooner Runa Laila and acclaimed Pakistani Sufi singer Abida Parveen are the judges on the show.

"I have been a pioneer in starting these kinds of shows. I have done almost six shows and this is something really big and different. I had a different experience as the show has been developed on a neutral ground with legendary judges. It was nothing less than an India-Pakistan match," Reshammiya told IANS.

The 39-year-old, who previously judged singing reality shows such as "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa challenge" and "Music ka Maha Muqqabla", will ensure that his pupils get the right marks and adds that "if 10 marks are given in a wrong way, I will stand up and speak for my contestants. I will speak what I feel is right."

This perhaps is the first time that Reshammiya is sharing a platform with Atif.

"With Atif there is no love or hate relation, it is normal as we haven't met much. We share a cordial relation. I on the show representing the talent in the field of music for my country and I am sure he will be doing the same for Pakistan," he said.

"For me, I would want the Indian singers to perform well and even Pakistan does well. But I would want India to win," he added.

Apart from "Sur Kshetra", Reshammiya is busy co-producing his next film with Akshay Kumar titled "Khiladi 786".

"The 'Khiladi' franchise is very popular. My company HR Music is producing it with Akshay's company, Hari Om Entertainment. The music will be very good and audience will have fun and love it," he said.

"The story is very nice and fascinating. Akshay is extraordinary in the title role of Khiladi," he added.

Directed by Ashish R. Mohan, the movie also features Asin Thottumkal, Mithun Chakraborty and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles.

The film is slated to release Dec 7.

I watch this show today, and I have to say that Atif Aslam is SO disrespectful towards such wonderful judges. I will never watch this show again because it really hurt me to watch such great musically gifted ladies get so much disrespect from him. He's a good singer, but I do not appreciate his personality.

Why can't the show just be about good music... Like seriously. Watched 1 episode today and it was disturbing. Himesh should seriously get his head out his ass. ... The whole concept is dumb!! Just my opinion. Give the racial card a rest...

when ihv seen his promo's abt the show it was a big shock for me what he was saying!!! i dont think there will be a peace happen between pakistan and india where still ppl like hr or worst them him live on earth!1 where other side i find atif aslam very decent and charm,

i wish this msg could read HR: agar apko jang larne ka itna shauq hai to singer q bane, go to border and show urself!!! u should not forget that our top class pakistani actress mona liza has worked in ur film kajra re, agar itna hi problem hai then why u maked this film with her where other pakistani actors were also to c!!!

dat happens all the time!! when ever pak india playing cricket 1947 ki war shuru hojati hai!!! from ur side mr nose singer !!! v never say bad anything to india, even ur films and half of ur culture is playing at our pakistani wedding which is damn far from the pakistani culture!!

these kind of show or even the cricket matches between pak and india make me crazy and dizzy!!!

seriosl!!! the one side asha says they hv a big heart for pakistanis wheere other v hear abusive and offensive comment by local ppl living in india! what so much fake? b real! dont send any politicians over to pakistan for a fake peace!!! sorry!! my post may b a bit offensive, but that what my heart is saying out !!! u guys r so proud of ur films...them why every second indian film song got atif in it...HE IS FAR BETTER THAN THE MAN WHO SUNG IN HIS NOSE

@Rehanism - Atleast you dared to listen Rafi sir's songs by him, I can't even imagine listening a single song by that man.

They should have brought Rahat.
Himesh is a good mentor no doubt but I don't like the concept of this show.

why creating such shows just to make money and gather TRP you r trying to play with people's minds and emotions like it matters who wins ...as if I was a Pakistani I would want Pakistan to win same as
an I am an Indian so I would want India to win so wats the point in who we r belong to after all we are all Humans ...don't try to play with people's emotions
