He had stated on his social media account that, Swathi's murder was a result of love-jihad and had also hurled some derogatory comments on Pakistan. Soon, twitteratis alleged his comments to be false and had criticised him for the same. After which, a Delhi based female journalist named Swati Chaturvedi responded that Abhijeet is jealous of Pakistani singers as they were the main reason why his singing career witnessed a downfall.

In return, the singer abused her and stated her to be anti-Indian.

The journo reported the matter to Delhi police. But the police didn't file Swati's complaint and forwarded the matter to Mumbai police for investigation.

However, the singer doesn't seem to be sorry for his words and has said that his remarks were intentional and meant to be made viral on the social media.

The matter is currently under investigation of DCP of  Mumbai Police's South Wing.
