Shraddha Kapoor talks about pay equality in the film industry

Shraddha Kapoor is a talented Indian actress known for her versatile roles in films like Aashiqui 2, Saaho, and Baaghi. With her magnificent acting prowess in Stree 2, she is still basking in the glory of her film’s success. Recently, the actress opened about one of the most debatable topics of the Bollywood which is Pay Parity. 

She shared her positive outlook on the gradual changes occurring and noted the rising fees of top stars over time. She emphasized that the choices about what will best aid a film's production and ensure it is realized as planned ultimately lie with the producers.

During a recent launch event, Shraddha Kapoor spoke about the changes in the film industry since her debut in Teen Patti back in 2010. She recognized that her income has grown considerably over the last 14 years, while also mentioning that, despite a persistent pay gap, there are encouraging signs of improvement in closing it.

The actress discussed the changing pay scales for leading stars, noting that these decisions are ultimately made by the producers. She elaborated that producers consider what will enhance the film's production and fit with their vision. She mentioned that some producers adopt a progressive mindset, recognizing the future direction of the industry, while also admitting that there is no uniform method that everyone follows.

She said, “Whatever is going to work positively in the making of a film, the way it is supposed to be made, those calls the producers will have to take. It’s their vision. I feel like there are a few who have long-term vision and really know where the industry is headed. There is no uniform way which everybody is following.”

Stree 2, featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles shattered numerous records and established new standards with its impressive performance at the box office. Directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhat, Stree 2 is the #1 film at the Hindi box office.
