Seems troubles and controversies are not going to leave Deepika Padukone - Ranveer Singh - Shahid Kapoor starrer "Padmavat" anytime soon!

Now, in a new twist to the ongoing controversy over release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movie "Padmaavat", female members of Kshatriya community in Chittorgarh have threatened to perform "jauhar" (self-immolation) if the screening of the film is not stopped by the government.

In a Sarvasamaj meeting held in Chittaurgarh, the members decided to stage a phase-wise protest against the proposed release of film. The meeting was attended by around 500 people, out of which 100 females belonged to high-profile families of the city.

Speaking to IANS, spokesperson of Rajput Karni Sena Virendra Singh said on January 17, national highways and railway tracks across Chittorgarh would be blocked.

The film, already cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after five modifications and renamed from "Padmavati" to "Padmavat" and now titled "Padmaavat", is scheduled to release on January 25 across India. The Rajasthan government has, however, decided against releasing it in the state.

On Sunday, a delegation of the Sena will meet Rajnath Singh, who is scheduled to visit Udaipur, requesting him to stop the screening of the movie across India.

According to Virendra Singh, a representative board will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 16, who is scheduled to visit Pachpadra village in Barmer district for laying the foundation stone for a refinery project.

"A request will be made to him as well to stop the screening of the film," he said.

"But, if despite all these measures the film is released, the women of Kshatriya Samaj will perform jauhar on January 24 -- the day when the queen performed jauhar -- and at the same site," said Virendra Singh.

Chhittaurgarh Jauhar Smriti Sansthan general secretary Bhanwar Singh said that preparations were also being made to close the gates of the historical Chittorgarh fort once again.

Earlier, the Sena had planned a protest on January 25 and 26, but in the wake of Republic Day celebrations, the protest was rescheduled to January 17, Virendra Singh added.

Did you hear about 3 rape cases in Haryana in the last week or so and these happened to underage girls and were brutal...they were also killed after the rape. Are these idiots even concerned about this reality and interested in protesting or trying to find the culprits? No, they want to vandalize properties, burn themselves and make their life's biggest aim to ban a movie. Sorry but have no sympathy for these low life morons so be my guest and fire up

To be honest we all love our culture and also history and Padmavathi was also a brave lady down the history which we all respect. Rajputs and all the other Rajasthan's who really have a problem over a film and protesting over should atleast see the hardwork the makers, yup there may be a problem but I don't think it is that big to bring people into self-immolation.
And guys this is just a cheap political party tricks. If they are too concerned about just a movie where they are not even considering there lives, then they should see the actual issues like child marriage, domestic violence, rapes and other rackets.
We are educated and not really fools we know the difference between actual and reality too.
If only those protesters who are using a movie to gain sympathy for there own benefits look out for the other social issues then today India would have been positioned in developed countries. Just because of few cheapsters the people are laughing at us.

1st - it's funny how a man, Mr.Singh, is saying that 100 women will burn themselves to protect the image of Padmavati. Look at the irony in that.

2nd - Have the seen the movie? How are they sure that the Queen is being insulted in that? At least 1st watch the movie and then protest.

3rd - Blocking off highways and railway tracks - guess who is going to be hit most by that - the common man.

But these so called "thekedars" of the society don't give two hoots about that. All they want is their 2 secs of fame so that they can get entry in the next elections.

How can a handful of people hold an entire country hostage? At least watch the movie and then protest. From what I saw in the trailer, the Rajput community have been shown in a very good light (maybe much more than reality) and Khilji is shown like a savage, an animal - the least to which he could be reduced. I don't think the film will harm the queen's image.

These morons have nothing better to do other than create a buzz for all the wrong reasons. Rather than protesting over the release of a movie had they protested for issues like rape, female infanticide it would serve a purpose. Am sure the women are being forced to do this. Why now burn the entire so called karni sena for good? They are doing nothing but horrible things.

Really Shocking News...
Its Just A Movie...

Why just women? Even those narrow minded men must burn themselves to lessen the burden on rest of the country. Why dont these high-profile women do anything when the women are raped?? These shallow people are the reason why our country is suffering.

Now we will burn ourselves for some fictional character and a movie!
Yes, one should respect other culture and when so many people have said that there is nothing in movie going against community, so what's the fuss.

And still if one don't get this idea, its better to burn yourself because you are just a burden on this land!

yes we need to respect our culture and history..but promoting self-immolation of females in the name of protest is wrong..Nowadays people are somuch educated that they know the diffrence betwn the actual history and what is showing in the name of historical movies ..Hope from now onwards these makers will atleast stay away these true historical stories..

Not supporting and encouraging acts of self-immolation. But disgusted by people who have commented here. A life is a life and to say we hope they die or self-immolate, makes them no different than people who are giving threats to the release of film. You're as degraded in mentality as them. Also for people who have not an iota of sense to understand a community's feelings, who think the Queen Padmini/Padmavati is fictional. Well just because you think she is fictional she does not become fictional. You're no different from Bhansali who somehow thinks its his privilege to change scenes and stories in every original novel or history based film. Sorry to say but even though way of protesting and threats are wrong bug Bhansali brought it upon himself. First spread rumours of romantic scenes in movie between an invader still hated and honourable Queen for promotions. Then show the Queen dancing like a courtesan when even now no queen will dance like that. Sorry to say but even if its a dream sequence it cannot be accepted. that song only added fuel to fire making it hard to believe he hasn't changed historical story (not fictional story and character as some stupid people believe it to be fiction). Though even after that I hope for the sake of livelihood of cinema owners and others involved peace prevails in end.
