Shilpa, Pooja, Kajol's CLASHING views on '#MeToo Movement'

Bollywood actress Shilpa, Pooja, and Kajol take an independent stand on the different views for #MeToo movement...

Amidst the #MeToo movement breaking out back in 2017, many cases regarding sexual harassment came forth. Recently, Tanushree Dutta allegedly accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment. Along with Nana she also accused Vivek Agnihotri of the same. Tanushree's brave steps have inspired many more women to speak their heart out against the predators that creep around B-Town. Since then many Bollywood celebrities have been allegedly accused of such heinous actions.

Bollywood actresses Shilpa Shetty, Pooja Bhatt and Kajol have raised their voices against the misconducts that women have been facing through years. Finally, it can be said that the ongoing controversy has brought forth many cases of sexual harassment in the industry. So far, 8-10 cases within the industry itself have came out in the public. However, an exact number of cases still remains uncovered.

During a recent media interaction, Shilpa got angry at a reporter as she was asked about her reaction on the ongoing Tanushree-Nana controversy. The actress said, "In any milieu, actors, entrepreneurs, the working environment should feel safe. That should be a prerequisite. This entire movement which has been initiated by Tanushree Dutta, my heart goes out to her, as a woman and on a human level because something like this was brushed under the carpet. We don't know the nitty gritty of the goings on but it has kick-started a movement. People have suffered. It's time women wake up and take charge. It shouldn't be hashtag MeToo, it should be YouToo, for the men. It's shouldn't be the women, cowing down and saying oh #MeToo."

However, while Shilpa talked about her views on the current controversy, Pooja Bhatt feels differently. The actress has the perspective for #MeToo movement differently as she believes not every man can be a sexual predator and all of them cannot be seen equally.

She said, "Every man in this world, just because he is a man, cannot be a sexual predator. And every woman, just because she is a woman, is not necessarily a victim. Sometimes she is also the perpetrator. To paint every man with the same brush is unfair."

Further, she added, "Is it is a reality in Bollywood? Yes, but it is a reality in media, politics, and college. It is a reality in every place where there is an exchange of power. If there is an exchange of power, there are situations where a woman utilizes their sexuality to be able to gain that foothold. There are women who marry someone because he is a powerful person. That's not different from a woman who wants to go out there and exchange sexual favours for fame."

As many staunch women from Bollywood have raised their voices, Kajol has also spoken up on the start of #MeToo movement in India. She said "The laughter dies out when you bring up the subject of #MeToo revelations that are shaking up our world on a daily basis. It's good that women are finally talking and publicly pulling up some people. It's not going to take away the pain and shame they faced in the past. But by speaking up, they can try and ensure that this doesn't happen to others in the future. Younger people, and I'm not being gender specific here, will know where to draw the line. They will know when to stand up and say, 'So far but no further."

The budding actress Mrunal Thakur who played a pivotal role in 'Love Sonia' shared her views on the on-going movement through her Twitter handle. Her Tweet read: "It is very saddening to hear about all that is happening around us in recent times. It takes a lot of courage to come out and speak about it. I am glad that the conversation has begun. I really hope that strict actions are taken against the culprit. There is no way a person should get out of such a horrible offense without any punishment."

So far, Bollywood actress and journalists have been fallen prey throughout the respective industries. With the Bollywood biggies standing up for the #MeToo movement, it surely has offered strength to women in the industry. The only question remains; are the accusations made True?
