Shah Rukh Khan will smoke like a chimney & keep working, Salman doesn't interact much: Govind Namdev

Veteran actor Govind Namdev recently shared intriguing insights into his working experiences with Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Namdev contrasted the on-set personalities and work habits of the two actors, revealing a significant difference in their approaches.

Reflecting on his time with Shah Rukh Khan during the filming of the 2000 movie "Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani," Namdev described Shah Rukh as an exceptionally hardworking and interactive individual. Namdev recounted, "I had heard a lot about workaholics, those who are deeply engrossed in their work. But I truly witnessed this for the first time with Shah Rukh Khan. We worked throughout the day, and at night he mingled with the entire crew. We would have dinner together, and then, because he was also the producer, he worked till 2 am." Namdev highlighted Shah Rukh's intense schedule, mentioning how he would catch an early morning flight to Chennai for an event, return, and resume shooting, all on very little sleep. "He will smoke like a chimney and keep working, keep thinking about what to do next", Namdev recounted. 

Namdev was particularly struck by Shah Rukh's dedication and lack of typical superstar airs. "Superstars usually have this attitude, these tantrums, but not him," he said, emphasizing Shah Rukh's grounded and collaborative nature. Despite the grueling schedule and lack of sleep, Shah Rukh remained focused, always thinking about the next steps in their work, which earned him admiration from his colleagues.

On the other hand, Namdev's experience with Salman Khan on the sets of "Wanted" painted a different picture. According to Namdev, Salman was more reserved and less interactive compared to Shah Rukh. "He doesn’t interact much; he only cares about work," Namdev noted, describing Salman's approach as minimalistic when it came to personal conversations. Salman would occasionally share anecdotes about his strict upbringing by his father, Salim Khan, but beyond that, he kept to himself and focused solely on his work.
