Sandeep Baswana and Aditi Sharma reflect on their roles in Apollena as Colors honours the show with a star

Starring Aditi Sharma as Apollena and Sandeep Baswana as her father, Girdhar Shukla, Apollena – Sapno Ki Unchi Udann tells the inspiring story of a determined young woman on a mission to become India's first female astronaut. 

In a unique tribute to the show, Colors has named a star after Apollena, marking a first for a space-based drama on the channel. The show follows Apollena, a small-town girl with big dreams, as she works to overcome the societal and personal challenges that stand in her way. Living by the motto Kar Ke Dikhaungi, Apollena is determined to become an astronaut while also restoring her father's honor, who is wrongly branded as a traitor.

The drama portrays her struggles as she faces the burden of her father's past while striving to achieve her dreams. Supported only by her father, Girdhar, who is wrongfully imprisoned while trying to secure her future, Apollena battles the societal expectations placed on her. In a community where girls are expected to manage households rather than chase careers, Apollena's resolve remains unshaken, even as her academic performance and family crisis weighs heavily on her. 

As she pushes through these challenges, the story unfolds—will Apollena overcome the obstacles in her path, or will circumstances hold her back?

Talking about essaying the titular role, Aditi Sharma says , "I am beyond grateful to Colors for naming a star 'Apollena' in honour of our show. It's an incredibly humbling moment for me, and I can't think of a better way to symbolize the limitless possibilities that our show represents. It's not just a tribute to Apollena's character but also a celebration of the limitless possibilities that lie ahead when we dare to dream big. 

Apollena's character teaches us that no matter how many obstacles life throws at us, we can always rise above and reach for the stars. Through her #KarKeDikhaungi spirit, we learn that the sky is not the limit—our dreams are. I hope that through this show, and with the symbolic star above, we encourage everyone—especially young girls—to reach for the stars, defy limits, and believe that no dream is too far-fetched to achieve."

Sharing his thoughts about portraying Girdhar, Sandeep Baswana says, "For me, Apollena – Sapno Ki Unchi Udann is a reflection of the love and hope every parent has for their child. Girdhar's journey is about clearing his name, not just for himself but for his daughter. He wants to be the force behind her mission, even as society tries to curb them. 

My character Girdhar is a picture of unconditional support, completely devoted to  his daughter's potential. It would mean the world to me if through my portrayal, audience sees the importance of creating an atmosphere of encouragement for the dreamers in their own lives. I take pride in being part of a show that explores the realm of space on television and to have Colors name a star dedicated to it is an honour. Just like the celestial star that now bears the name - Apollena, I hope the show encourages audiences to reach for the sky and believe in the power of their own dreams."

The show will premiere on December 3rd, airing daily at 6:00 PM only on Colors.
