The
talented television actor Sachin Parikh who has acted in many television shows is also a theatre artist and now a producer too for
theatre shows. Sachin who has also done many commercial advertisements has maintained that his love
has always been acting and the creative satisfaction that he craves for he gets through
production.
We spoke to Sachin Parikh to share his journey from theatre actor to television to producer. Let's see what he said..
How did your career start?
It all started with Gujarati theatre. My first theatre show was with the veteran and ace actress Sarita Joshi and then I got an opportunity to work with her daughter Ketki Dave who also is a theatre artist. Till around 2006, I was only associated with Gujarati theatre.
What inspired you to become an theatre artist?
I belong from a theatre background. My father used to produce and act in theatre plays and that is what inspired me towards the theatre and acting. Acting has always been my first love and will always stay so. From my family background itself I got an opportunity to land into theatre, and I got to explore the artistic side of my dream. It is a great feeling being an theatre artist and more on to be a producer for the same. As an actor you are limited to your skills as you have to go with the script but as a producer you get to explore more and learn as you can use your creativity.
You are currently the producer of the play Rishton Ka Live Telecast, tell us something about the same?
As I said earlier that theatre is not new to me I have been acting in plays and later when got an opportunity to become a theatre producer I was more than willing to grab it. This is my second play as a producer. My first play as a producer was Saath Rahega Always in 2010. It was a hit show and its popularity gave me satisfaction. We did around 25 shows for the same out of which mostly were all over the country and one was overseas in Dubai. It had Padmini Kolhapure as the main lead and there were television actors Mahesh Thakur and Tina Parekh too. For Rishton Ka Live Telecast it has been 3 shows so far and they have all been houseful too. The show is going very good and hope it stays so further too.
Tell me something about the concept of your shows?
Both my plays shows have similar concept, just the way pf portraying is different. Saath Rahega Always and Rishton Ka Live Telecast both the shows are on giving a social message. Where the first one was focused on the elderly lot, the second one is also similar but with a bit of a comedy factor showing today's generation.
You have been a television actor too, so how is it acting in television?
Well there is not much difference, when you love acting then whichever platform you get to act is an opportunity to prove yourself as an actor and explore your acting skills. Apart from that it is a fantastic experience doing television shows. It is a vast media where you get a chance to become the household name. Hindi television has altogether a different reach all over the world, you get more recognition and your work is appreciated.
Do you plan to produce any television show too?
As of now there are no such plans but if I get an opportunity than surely I will. (smiles)
What do you like more - acting or producing?
There is likeness for both as I love doing both. Acting will always be my first love and I will never stop myself from acting even if I continue with production. Being a producer gives me a creative satisfaction. I enjoy whatever I do and find pleasure and satisfaction in the same as I choose the paths to walk myself.

Atleast those stupid protests didn't scare him off like it did certain "big stars" who are too much of cowards to come to their neigbour country coz of empty threats, baseless rumours & unfound accusations against Sri Lanka :((
