Vihaan Samat is rapidly carving out a niche for himself in the competitive world of OTT entertainment. With standout performances in hit series like Mismatched, the actor has quickly become a familiar name among digital audiences. His portrayal in the show garnered widespread acclaim, highlighting his ability to connect with viewers through authentic and relatable performances. Now, with two highly anticipated projects on the horizon, Call Me Bae and CTRL, Vihaan is poised to showcase his versatility and depth as an actor, taking his career to new heights.
In Call Me Bae, an upcoming series set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 6, Vihaan steps into a character unlike any he’s played before. He stars as the husband of Ananya Panday's character, in a narrative that explores the life of a wealthy and confident heiress. The series, produced by Dharmatic Entertainment and helmed by director Collin D’Cunha, promises to be a captivating exploration of identity and self-discovery, with an ensemble cast featuring Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, and Mini Mathur, among others.
At the trailer launch, Vihaan shared his thoughts on the challenges of portraying such a bold and self-assured character. “I’ve always sought roles that push me out of my comfort zone,” he remarked. “This character is brash, confident, and even a bit narcissistic—traits I haven’t explored before. That’s what excited me about this role.”
Addressing concerns about typecasting in the OTT space, Vihaan expressed a mature and thoughtful perspective. “I believe in taking on roles that challenge me and maybe even scare me a little,” he explained. “As long as I’m doing my job well, the truth of the character will resonate with the audience. Standing out in a large cast wasn’t my focus; my goal was to connect deeply with the character and deliver an authentic performance.”
Following Call Me Bae, Vihaan is set to reunite with Ananya Panday in the cyber thriller CTRL, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The Netflix film, produced by Saffron and Andolan Films, is scheduled for release on October 4. This project promises to be a gripping narrative, further cementing Vihaan’s place as a rising star in the digital domain.
