Rohit Shetty shares news about Deepika Padukone’s solo movie as Lady Singham in Cop Universe

Rohit Shetty's latest film, Singham Again, is soaring high at the box office. The movie, led by Ajay Devgn, boasts a star-studded cast, with the addition of new mom Deepika Padukone, who made her debut as Shakti Shetty, also known as Lady Singham.

Rohit Shetty recently provided an update on the solo film featuring Deepika's character. He mentioned that they are still exploring the concept they have in mind and are unsure about the direction they will take with it.

During a recent chat with News18 Showsha, Rohit Shetty spilled the beans on the reason behind the delay in introducing a female cop in his cinematic world. He explained that he was holding out for the perfect script and launch for this character. Surprisingly, Rohit admitted that he didn't even consider the existence of a Cop Universe until 2018. The concept of incorporating a female cop dawned on him while working on the Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi.

Discussing the standalone film featuring Deepika Padukone, Rohit mentioned that the script hasn't been penned down yet. He elaborated, "We do have a concept in mind but we don't know where we can go with it." Rohit emphasized that the project would require some time to develop.

“I know what the character will be like and her basic story arc but I don’t know her whole journey yet as a director or writer," he said about the character.

Rohit Shetty made it clear that a movie centered around Lady Singham is definitely in the works; otherwise, her character wouldn't have been introduced in the cinematic universe. He highlighted that there was a deliberate reason for the spotlight on her character in the recent film Singham Again.

Apart from Ajay Devgn and Deepika Padukone, the ensemble cast of Singham Again features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff. The movie is currently playing in cinemas.
