The Bombay High Court has granted Rhea Chakraborty significant relief, ordering the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to return her passport. This decision permanently relaxes a bail condition imposed during the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Following the late actor's death, Rhea was arrested and later granted bail, with the requirement to surrender her passport to the NCB.
Rhea Chakraborty, represented by advocate Ayaz Khan, filed a new application to the court, seeking the removal of the passport condition, citing lost overseas opportunities. However, NCB representative SK Halwasia opposed her request, arguing that she should be treated like any other individual and should not receive preferential treatment due to her celebrity status. The NCB maintained its stance.

Justice Gokhale, in granting the relaxation, stated, "There is no reason to doubt her availability for the trial's conclusion," emphasizing that other defendants in the case had received similar considerations. The court acknowledged Chakraborty's consistent return from approved trips, her participation in trial proceedings, and her full cooperation with the investigation.

I always knew I hadn't done anything. But even when the clean chit came, I couldn't feel happy. I was only happy for my parents and their reputation. But we were no longer the same carefree family; it can't come back. That moment altered all of us completely, for our entire life," she said.
About Sushant Singh Rajput’s case
In June 2020, the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput at his Mumbai residence initiated a widely publicized investigation that captured national attention. Initially considered an accidental death, the case soon became the focus of intense media scrutiny and public discussion. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) subsequently assumed control of the investigation to ascertain the precise circumstances surrounding his death. Following a months-long investigation, the CBI determined that there was no evidence to implicate Rhea Chakraborty or other individuals connected to him in his death, thereby clearing her of the allegations and concluding that chapter.
