In the Ajay Singh directorial, Yami Gautam plays the role of Neha Grover, a flight attendant, who is in love with Ankit Sethi, a businessman, working for a diamond insurance company.
The couple seems to leading the perfect 'happy life' and are planning to have a baby.
However, Ankit has a past and he owes money to some really shady people. Soon, they catch hold of him and even attack Neha. Unfortunately, Neha loses her child post being pregnant for 8 weeks.
Fearing their lives, Neha and Ankit agree to steal a diamond consignment that is to Delhi from Middle-east. The diamonds belong to a home minister and Ankit’s company provides him with the safe passage to India.
Neha works in the flight that the couple is headed to which helps them with the cause. However, things take a wild turn when the flight gets hijacked.
The Screenplay
After a good build-up in the first half, the film takes some really twisted turns which makes up second half. Ankit has plans to double cross everyone, including Neha, but on her own, she has some plans as well. What awaits is a set of shocking, exciting and enthralling turns.
The screenplay is engaging where one might see the obvious but there are hidden details that are only make for big revelations in the end.
What really works for the film is that it isn't just a diamond heist but also a revenge drama, a live story among other things. The sub-plots and the developments attached to the film is a job well done.
The Performances
Yami Gautam’s character has a full emotional and transformational arc and the actor does justice to the same looking and giving her best.
Sunny Kaushal has a more controlled portrayal and there is a subtle menacing quality about him which he works for his character and the mystery attached to it. The actor does a brilliant job with the same while underplaying on many levels.
Sharad Kelkar as a RAW officer, and Indraneil Sen Gupta as a mysterious flight officer have a limited screen-time but as one would expect, the duo are towering and impactful with their performances.
The Verdict
In the end, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga is an interesting and thrilling crime drama, which keeps you hooked and inspite of some dull moments, it leads to a crescendo with big revelations.
