What was your reaction when Rajkumar Hirani signed you for P.K.?
I was thrilled, it was the kind of happiness I felt when I got Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. I have a lot of respect and lot for Raju Hirani as a director. He raises the bar with his films. When he called me and narrated the script to me, I was thrilled, because I had auditioned for 3 Idiots way before I became an actor. At that point I didn't know that I am auditioning for 3 Idiots, I just remember going to his office. I auditioned for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi after that.
Was it difficult to match up to Aamir Khan's methodology of acting? As actors your methods might be different but ultimately you are getting to the same thing. I didn't take a lot of takes. Even if Raju Sir used to say a take is fine I used to keep insisting on making it better. Basically I am very critical about my work. When you are actor you are like that, you know something is going to stay in posterity, so you want to give it your best.
Whom have you been more nervous to work with, Shah Rukh Khan or Aamir Khan?
I was not scared, but slightly intimidated by Aamir Khan, more than Shahrukh, because he is a very sharp and intelligent person. So I used to like observing the way he is on sets. He has an ability not only to see a scene, but also as to how would the audience perceive it. All these things were very interesting to notice.
Did you think your screen time would be affected since Aamir Khan is also a part of the film?
It completely depends on the nature of film. I don't think it would matter to me in a film like P.K.
Did you ever want to co-produce P.K.?No, not at all. In fact I didn't discuss money at all with Raju Sir. I told him I don't want anything. I was ready to do P.K. for free. When you do a Raju Hirani film it's beyond all these things.
How do you feel working with a co-star that you have been linked with?
I have very good working relations with everyone that I have worked with, but I am not going to sit and justify it to people but taking picture or doing something like that; to me it's too cheap. Ranveer and I share a wonderful equation; we have done two films together. I was also a little worried as how it would be, since we haven't been in touch off lately, but when we went and started shooting for Dil Dhadakne Do, we were all there and we work very well with each other and so is it with Sushant. With Sushant what happened was I was simply misquoted which led to some misunderstandings. That is something the both of us have clarified and I had a great time shooting for P.K. I hope we do a full-fledged film together and he thinks so too, so someone should cast us both together.
We hope P.K. is yet another stepping stone in Anushka Sharma's career, with many ,more to come.
