When asked about the hiatus and his comeback with this film Santoshi exclaimed,
“For 9 years I was working on a few scripts and I was thinking of making different kinds of films. I didn't want to run in the flavour of the season. So I planned about 2-3 subjects."
He further added,
"I was working on battle of Saragarhi and I filmed for it for 20-22 days with Randeep Hooda. The individuals I was supposed to partner with, the digital platform providers, and other financiers pulled out due to the fact that the film starring Akshay Kumar is coming out, thus it became a setback for me. At the same time, Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar's collaboration film got announced. Despite shooting for 20-22 days, I had to shelve the film. After that I started working on Gandhi Godse and 2 years went into pandemic and now I am here with the film."
The film is all set to hit the big screens on 25th January 2023.
